  1. NO dairy because it is converted to mucus more easily throughout your respiratory system.  That's why most professional singers don't drink milk or stay away from cheese for the most part.

    *Raw Garlic

    *Raw Scallions/green onions

    *Lemons

*Whole Zakky chicken made into home made soup

    *Raw Mint leaves

    *Raw Ginger Root

Suggested uses - Chop garlic finely, slice scallions(green onions), Add some chopped raw green cabbage and lettuce mixed with some chopped Italian parsley and chop a few mint leaves and add finely grated raw ginger.

Dressing, squeeze of half of lemon with some champagne vinegar or rice vinegar and a good helping of cold pressed virgin olive oil.

Cooled prepared broiled chicken breast can be chopped into cubes and added to salad.

A nice mix of Mediterranean and Asian flavors are in the salad and everything in it fights a cold by making your immune system bullet proof, clears up your nose and breaks up the mucus in your system.

Now, you can alter or use these ingredients any way you wish...  I just wanted to spark your imagination to let your medicine be your food and your food be your medicine.

For right now, if you have a fresh lemon in the house, squeeze it into filtered ice water and drink it... Also, make some mint tea and drink that.  Soups are good, too... If you have a backyard with mint leaves, chew on a few.  They are natural disinfectants for the throat.

    Have a great day!

  2. vitamin c. juices are bad for you when your sick because of all the sugar.

  3. Colds are self limiting so the trick is to wait it out while your immune system slowly eradicates the virus from your body. Drink water.

Yeah, I hate stuff made in a lab, too. All those horrible things that do stuff like cure bacterial infections that at one time killed people. Labs suck! You know the kind. The kinds of evil chemicals that do awful things like keep my mother from dying of lupus. I hate labs... and chemicals.

  4. Elderberry extract, by far.  It has been shown to reduce the duration and intensity of colds and the flu.  It also tastes awesome.  It's the only cold syrup I know that will have a little kid begging for more!  An Israeli scientist developed an Elderberry syrup called Sambucol, which you can find in health food stores.  There are also other brands of Elderberry extract or syrup available.

I've also had similar success with a good-quality echinacea tincture.  But you have to take a couple dropper-fulls every few hours for it to really be effective.  I usually take it in orange juice to make it taste better, plus I get some extra vitamin C that way.  One way you can tell if you have a good quality echinacea tincture is you will notice a slight numbing or tingling sensation on your tongue and the back of your throat when you take it.  This is one reason why echinacea was once used as a sore throat remedy.
