  1. my yearlings worst habit...maybe not standing still

  2. Sometimes he doesn't respect my space and knocks me in the head with his mouth. He just is being ditzy - not mean. Also, the previous owners made him ear shy, so we're working on that!

  3. My horse is great when I'm on his back so I have no complaints there.

While leading or holding him he will throw his head at me.  That is very aggravating.  As he gets older it is getting better but it still happens too often.

  4. Well I've finally broke my horse outa all the bad bad habbits.. but the most annoying thing she does is after im done mucking her stall.. putting in new bedding and cleaning the whole place she takes a c**p. its like she knows i wanted to keep the place clean so she just has to mess it up lol.. oh well i still love her~!

  5. she stops and purposly poops in front of fences. lol.

  6. Which one to pick? (lol). When my horse is on the crossties and I'm mucking out the stall, he pushes me into the bucket of his... droppings.

Also the water buckets in their stalls have small hoses that attach to nozzles on their stall. When I turn on his hose to fill up his water bucket, he grabs it in his mouth and sprays water everywhere ...him, his stall, the walls, the aisle, ME!!!

If I come to visit him but I don't bring treats he snorts all over me - I feel like I'm drowning!!

  7. Mare goes into heat and knocks down fences.....

Local police knocking on the door at 3am to tell us what a beautiful hose we have and by the way she's in the road.

Waking up in the morning to your horse looking in the living room window.  Sounds cute but it really is quite startling....

Hearing this BANG, BANG, BANG of a horse kicking at the gate to get back in the pasture.  She couldnt go back through the gaping hole in the fence she just created to get back in.

Why do they go so crazy when they're in heat.....

  8. My horses worst habbit is bronking because he spooks at the littlest thing. One horse at my yard weaves constantly and she has damaged her neck muscles because she has done it for years.

If you want entertaining answers there is a horse that aims for your feet and stands on them. Also there is a tiny horse that runs under the fence on beginner lessons and the fence knocks the riders off! Very funny to watch hehe.

  9. My mare will lie down anywhere at all flat out on the ground to take a nap...she looks dead, and it always worries me until I see her get up.  If she does it when anyone else pulls in, they come running to tell us something is wrong....most people have never seen a horse sleep like that.

  10. One of them is doing a hugee buck soon as hes landed a jump...The annoying thing is i can never sit to it so i usually end up on the floor when i jump him haha. And one of my mares bad habits is lifting up her hoof if she sees i hav a treat or something its sooooo annoying, the girl who had her before taught her and its soo annoying hehe. But everyone else thinks its great..x

  11. I don't own my own horse, but I do lease a horse.

He was a schooling horse at a big riding stable out here before he moved to the barn I'm currently riding at, so although he is very tolerant of my mistakes, he's VERY lazy and has horrible movement. He doesn't like to bend-has a very hard body, so to speak.

But we're working on it-and making good progress at that!

He just needs to loosen and soften up a bit. He's got great energy, but he leans on your leg and uses his front end to do all the work. Once I get him a little forward he starts doing great though.

It's been about two years that I've been out of the saddle, so he does very well with me as I try to find my balance again and regain my muscles. I have to give him credit for that =]

Oh! And how could I forget-he dances in cross ties! haha. He just fusses about and moves forward and backward and from side to side. But when you hit the right spot (just behind his ears on his neck) he stands still and leans right into it-sucking up every minute of it. If you didn't know him though, you'd think he was a high-energy maniac-but he's just fussy in the ties.

  12. Throwing herself on the floor during clipping. She learnt this trick with her old owner. Clipping is an absolute nightmare. She has also learnt to fight the calming effect of twitching. The only thing we can do,is a quick doping, then get as much of the clip done as possible, and then a tidy up with hand clippers. I only manage about one clip a year because I really cannot stand to dope her, but it really is the only way. Even hearing the sound of clippers in another stable, will send her to the ground. We have tried to desensitise her, but it did not work at all. Clippers just flip her out.

  13. one horse i ride (not mine) he loves head butting me

what a fat head lol but i love him to death he's my fav barn horse

and as for my horse?  i like to sit out in the pasture with him or just brush him while he's eating  and he likes being close to me so he will get as close as he can but sometimes ends up stepping on my feet haha so i always wear boots when hanging out with him ..i know it's dangerous so i don't let people get to close to him cuz he might squish there toe! i'm working on it though he's starting to realize he has to keep track of ALL 4  hooves lol

and another one is if i don't tie him up tight enough he will walk in circles around the pole, or he will pace, or paw the ground with cross ties.. he gets bored.. very easily haha gosh i love my horse

  14. Aesop LOVES getting his mouth on anything he can reach.  He also loves ripping the bottoms of my jeans if they flair out (I always make sure they are snug fit on me now).  Aesop also loves to escape out of his stall (he's tall enough to reach over and unhook the lock) so we had to install new locks that work now.

For some odd unknown reason he doesn't like apples.  So if someone new to the barn gives him a slice of apple he will take it then literally chuck it right back at them.  But loves wine and gingerale.

He loves when I once in a rare while forget to put the wooden bar to the feed room down.  I'll walk in to check up on him and my aunts 3 horses and I will see him eating in the can full of his grain.

I love my Aesop but oh is he an interesting boy

  15. I got my horse the end of May & her previous owner thought that a sign of affection was the horse rubbing its head against you, so my horse got away with using any1 as a scratching post. Well a lil nudge is acceptable but I have scratches up & down my arms & shoulders from her rubbing so hard on me. We are working on that though.

  16. Calling out to her horsey friends! *sighs*

we're working on it though! :)

  17. I discovered very quickly that my mare *loves* water.

When ever Im out on a trail she has to stop at every puddle and splash around in it. But if the water is too dirty she will pass it by.

I have to stear her away from them sometimes cos they are far too deep but she doesnt care, she will just plow through them anyway lol.

  18. running to the gate while riding in the arena=p

  19. not taking her lead when shes cantering

  20. Harvey has a problem with concentration - I'd swear he goes off into a dream at the slightest opportunity and stupid things bring him out of it. Like if you are getting him ready in the stable and you put a strap though a keeper - all of a sudden he's "OMG !!!" and leaps off to the side like he heard a gun go off.

One time he actually reared in the stable because a hoofpick dropped off the shelf and landed in the hay.

He is such a pillock !

  21. doing everything i ask him to :D

  22. Rox- Laziness, rubbing on you after riding and not picking up the left lead.

Star- Rubbing on you, and being a bit spazzy. lol.

That was fun! Thanks for the questions!

EDIT: I forgot to put the worst one up! Whoops! Costing me TONS of cash! rofl!

  23. My horse Teddy knocks down fences. He is so big, he can just run them through. Its annoying having to fix fences all the time, lol.
