a good hostess its all about the warmth, making people feel welcome, enjoying each others company, having a relaxed atmosphere, and not trying to hard

    small touches

appropriate music, to set the mood,

candles or lights on dim after food has been served

variety of drinks both non alcoholic and alcoholic,

having everything all prepared so when the night comes around your spending all the time with your guests, and if you need to spend time in the kitchen having a guest help you, hopefully someone offers, i'm normally this someone, i find it great to get away from the crowd and have one on one time with the host

  10. Someone who doesn't spend all night in the kitchen. Someone who can accept a compliment on the evening they've provided and will admit that it was hard work but that her guests are worth it and finally someone who will accept the help that is offered at the end of the evening. Lord, I don't want much from my hostess do I???
