What is your interpretation of this photo? Paranormal or trick of light?

the only alteration I have done is to make the picture brighter using autofix.

Look at the bottom half of the tree, I see some sort of, arm or foot. Everytime I walk by this tree I get really eery feelings like someone is watching me. So one day I decided to take a pic of it. Tell me what you think?

  1. I see more then just a leg and foot I see a face coming from the tree. I looks more like a women's body but you might want to do some research around your house about a murder or death and that could help you a little bit more on your investigation.

I would try one of those old cameras that have the pictures come out automatically Sorry I don't know what they are called. Maybe you would want to try it during the day to?

  2. Don't use a digital camera

  3. Not a ghost

  4. It looks like the film was scratched. I couldn't make out any shape or anything at the bottom of the tree. You may be feeling something from that tree just b/c you think you saw something in the pic. I could be wrong. I'm not an expert.

  5. This is a typical photography error. You are using a digital camera in a low light situation. The camera is trying to compensate by raising its ISO. It looks to be an ISO of 800 or higher, but that all depends on the camera make and model. I can only go off the noise level which is pretty extreme. I would also guess from this that it has a slower shutter time. During a normal shutter speed 1/325 or so, movement is minimized and objects show less blur. As the shutter time increases, this allows more time for light to reach the sensor of the camera. This also in turn allows the holder of the camera and objects to move as well. In this case, it looks like a little bit of camera shake and a reflective/slightly luminate object in the field of focus.

    Nothing paranormal here.

To reduce chances of this without necessarily getting a better camera. Try some of the following.

    1) Use a tripod or monopod.

    2) Use a better external flash or light gun with a difuser.

    Good luck and keep hunting.

  6. It's obviously a 'long' exposure (1/4 sec or longer) without a lot of light, which means it's probably just a bug reflecting light moving while you took the photo.  It was long enough for it to fly a foot or so and leave this erratic trail.  You can do this yourself under low light with a camera you can set the exposure time on - make your own ghost pictures!  Take one exposure in the low light of someone, rewind the film (use an old style camera) and then take another of the same frame without them in it.  They'll look transparent!

  7. yeah looks like a s***w up with the camera

  8. it looks like a small person. just saying you should check it out, beacause i see more than a foot, i see the whole body, very strange, and i'ved never seen  a photo like that one.

  9. it

    could be a ghost

  10. I have to say, with the grainy quality of the image, combined with the strange color effects present, that it's impossible to say for certain whether or not this is paranormal.

I'm going with "normal" for the moment, on the grounds that there are too many normal explanations for anything that might be paranormal in the photo.

I would recommend a higher-quality camera with a near-infrared capability (called a "nightshot" if it's made by Sony).

EDIT: Entry on rods explains another answerer's bit about insects in more detail, though is directed toward the "flying rods" phenomenon. Pay attention to the "Observations and Summary" section toward the bottom if you just want a quick answer.

  11. Definitely a trick of light. If the camera you used digital, it could be a lack of light, actually rather than a "trick of light" Digital cameras don't let in as much light as your typical 35 mm. So, that's probably all it is.

  12. You should not have altered the image. It ruins the evidence. It is certainly just a light artifact caused by a slight camera movement when the shot was taken. I get shots like that all the time.

  13. Could be a spirit. Who knows for sure.

  14. It's hard to say. It's not a great quality photo. There are too many possible explanations for it. From camera trouble to outside interference from another light source.

  15. I would say the streak of orange light may be paranormal. Obviously it's dark out in the picture, so it's not like it's the sunlight or anything. and if u say that u get an eerie feeling around the tree, and then that light appears in front of it, that gives it a reason of being paranormal. also, my friend & i were looking at the pic and it almost seemed as though there was a face in the center of the tree, if you really study it.

    hope i helped :]

  16. It could defiantly be something. It looks like a streak, as though something is trying to fly away or something. Also for camera's I would suggest disposable. I know that sounds weird but they work great. They don't pick up dust particles to be used as dust or bird droppings or anything. So try disposable, they work well.
