Should we have a makeover after more than half a century of independence?

What kind of nation should we aspire to be?

How can we better?

Should racial politics be the thrown out and let all of us call ourselves as Malaysians first and foremost?

  3. Happy Merdeka Malaysians.......

  4. That every citizen, race, religious group or political party work towards the grand vision of becoming a developed nation by 2020.That there be no more damaging riots on the streets, corruption by govt officials, threatening shows of power by politicians in parliament or assemblies, etc. That politics be conducted in the most democratic and matured way possible. That parliamentary proceedings, if  televised to the populace, will never have violent scenes of kerises being drawn, fists being used, shoes being thrown, etc as had happened in other nations.

  5. Happy Merdeka Day, Malaysia !

To "tellmetellme": Curious, was the Me thingy on purpose ??

  6. "perpaduan asas kejayaan"I hope malaysian will become more unite.

  7. Ever since I ventured into adulthood - or even in my late teenage, well that was my wish. but ghee ten years down the track you cannot be wishing the same thing knowing it is not going to happen?

I would just wish Me family lives healthily safely in Malaysia, that's all one can hope for when you are down in the bottom most.

ps - I don't even know today was Merdeka Day had I not read your question!

  8. I would say we do seriously need a makeover for the country. The narrow mindedness attitude displayed by specific races need to be eliminated. Gone are those days where all races would embrace each others' cultures and religions. Understanding and compromise were a major part of our lives. When we were growing up, we had friends of all races but the racial divide is so pertinent these days...

The discrimination is displayed even among the teachers in school, where they tend to discriminate pupils of a certain race while they choose to turn a blind eye towards the wrongdoings of other races.

What kind of nation are we turning out to be? I even heard a comment about certain undergrads asking whether it is right to buy drinks which are arranged next to a rack of alcohol? How blatantly stupid can these undergrads be? What types of leaders are we churning out? Is the nation so lack of brains ?

I seriously think that the way forward is to eliminate racial politics and yes, if we really want to attain developed nation status by 2020 (which is only 12 years away....!!!!) , we seriously need to delve into our hearts and minds and learn to be a more tolerant nation, accepting each others' flaws and perfections rather than thinking of unnecessary and uncalled for remarks that would impede our progression towards development.
