  1. For the attention of SOME people:

There is a big difference between 'Liquor' and 'Liquer'

  2. i have always thought that yes they do contain alcohol and nearly all of THORNTONS chocolates contain some kind of alcohol.

  3. I got some as a gift and used it in my coffee and it indeed does contain liquor.  Although it is a small amount, but still for a religion that forbids the use of alcohol it would not be a good thing to partake of it.

  4. I don't think people here should be giving "opinions". Unless its chocolate flavored liquor,  it's not haram. Chocolate liquor is is basically a term used for the liquid form of chocolate and does not contain any alcohol. Flavored liquor, if I am not mistaken is actual liquor (alcohol) with flavoring and without the added sugar.

Both Liquor and Liqueur can contain alcohol. The main difference is that a liqueur is a sweet alcoholic beverage while a liquor contains no added sugar and has at least 35% alcohol by volume. Only in terms of chocolate liquor, there is no alcohol and it refers to the liquid (melted) form of chocolate.

One thing you can do if you are not sure, is call the company that sells the product. All the chocolates I bought with "chocolate liqour" were just melted chocolate. I've called a few companies and they all say it's the term used for the liquid form of chocolate and contains no alcohol.

  5. Yes, in minimal quantities, you could eat as many as you want you'll never get drunk.

  6. Salaam.

No it does not contain any alcohol :

"The nibs are ground to a thick, rich paste called chocolate liquor (a misleading term, since the product contains no alcohol). This liquor is the foundation for all chocolate products"

  7. Godiva Chocolate liquor does contain alcohol, I use it all the time for baking my chocolate confections.  I rarely use it for mixed drinks, but I have on occasion had some nice ones.

  8. Yes, and very nice too, but don't to many, that would be unwise.

  9. Yes, chocolate liqueurs contain alcohol, but in very small amounts. That is why under UK law they may be sold to 16 year olds.

  10. I haven't heard of chocolate liquor.

But chocolate liqueurs are chocolates which contain liqueur which is alcoholic, albeit in small quantities.

  11. Yes/no

If you go to a liquor store and buy chocolate liquor.......its a chocolate flavored alcohol drink.......you're probably buy a chocolate schnapps.

If you are talking about the stuff in your candy bars...then no...its non-alcoholic.

  12. If it contains alcohol, it is therefore haram. You can always ask or see if there's a % sign and read the ingredients.
