Question:

What is your opinion of Boston University?

I recently took a trip to Boston to check out a Red Sox game, and in my free time went around and looked at some of the colleges that Boston has to offer. I currently live in Delaware (so boring.) So seeing the big city really opened my eyes and made me realize that after this year, I want to transfer from my current college to somewhere in Boston. Boston University has definitely caught my eye above the rest. How hard is it to get into? My grades in High School were not perfect. But my college grades are good. If I continue to do well this year and keep my grades up, what are the chances of getting into BU? And what kind of scholarships are available? Because I'm sure BU is probably very pricey. Is it worth the money? If you currently attend BU or at one point attended BU, please tell me your opinion of the school and a little about yourself and your experience, (what your grades were like upon getting accepted, how you managed to pay for the school, etc.) THANK YOU!!!

  2. There are a lot of rich international students at this school and it is very large and impersonal.  The campus is basically large buildings on city streets in the heart of Boston.  I have known people who hated the experience and others who liked the anonymity and the city living.  I personally wanted a real college campus experience in the Boston metro area and a much smaller school and selected Holy Cross and have been very happy here.

  3. When I was applying to college out of high school, BU was one of my top choices. Ultimately I didn't go there because its just too big for me and doesn't have enough of a campus feel. I ended up going to Brown University instead and I couldn't be happier. BU actually costs more per year than Brown does. But I love the city, and that was the main reason I wanted to go there. So my advice for you is to make sure that you're in love with the school, and not the city. There are plenty of other schools in Boston for you to check out. Look at Northeastern, Emerson, etc.

Collegeboard.com was my best friend when I applied to college. They can give you all the stats on average grades, transfers, scholarships, etc. When I got accepted, I was #2 in my high school class, but graduated as valedictorian. My GPA was a 4.37. I didn't do as well as I would have hoped on SATs - I got a 1960. But anyway, seriously, look at the averages on collegeboard.com and don't go by the grades/numbers a few people on Yahoo! Answers put up.

    Good luck!
