  1. I worked there years ago as a hostess and absolutely loved working there - it was one of my all-time favorite jobs.  It's changed ownership over the years, but I heard lately it's very, very good.  I would definitely go there especially to soak up the wonderful history of Philadelphia.  Many of the members of the Continental Congress met there in secret to discuss their plans.

  2. The City Tavern is a great historical restaurant. It is a great place to eat while you're in the historic district of Philadelphia. Located on 2nd Street, it's a moderately easy walk from such historical sites as Independence Hall, the Constitution Center, and Carpenter's Hall. The interior is decorated as its original 18th century predecessor and the wait staff is dressed in period costume. The menu is inspired from dishes of the Colonial Era and everything I have sampled so far has been excellent. If you're going to Philadelphia to celebrate its history, this restaurant is a must; make reservations!

  3. I haven't been to City in a while.  I remember it had large portions and good prices.  The food was good, tasty, but nothng to overly recommend.
