What is your opinion of hotel Grand Velas in Puerto Vallarta?

I am trying to plan a vacation to Puerto Vallarta this summer and was recommended to go to Grand Velas. Is it good for place to a vacation with family?

  1. I am looking at their website right now http://vallarta.grandvelas.com and it really looks great. I mean, they are a member of The Leading Hotels of the World, Leading Spas, and it is a AAA Five diamonds resort.

    I don't think there is another resort that received all these awards in the region! And I am sure those institutions are not giving them away either.

    It also appears that Grand Velas has some sister properties: one is called Velas Vallarta (family friendly) and the other is Casa Velas Hotel Boutique (adults only).

    Both of those hotels are closer to downtown since they are in Marina Vallarta, (15min from downtown).

  3. I understand that the Grand Velas is a beautiful place. I hope that you understand that it is in Nuevo Vallarta, which is a 30 minute taxi ride from Puerto Vallarta, actually in a different state. You will have a luxurious place on a nice beach, but it is quite a haul to go to town. If you like to enjoy the accommodations, that is the area to stay in. If you want to enjoy the great city of Puerto Vallarta, there are very nice places to stay that are nearer to the excitement. I would recommend the Villa Premiere Hotel for comparable quality.

    Personally, I stay right in town (rent a condo) and eat at some of the world's finest restaurants for less than I would spend at an all-inclusive. I can also party all night long and be just steps from home (or a $4.00 cab ride)

  4. I was there over spring break, its ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL!!! I also highly recommend it!!! The pool, the beach, the rooms, the building, the landscaping! Its beautiful! Trust Me!
