The reason for the refusal was given as "it was management policy not to accept military personnel" He was visiting his injured comrade in Surrey and had to spend the night in his car. Welcome back to Britain Corporal. Do you think this anti - British military "mind set" by the "METRO HOTEL" Woking reflects the the opinion of the Woking population at large and does it constitute discrimination in the same way it would have done had the "METRO HOTEL" turned away an individual(s) from any of the many ethnic minority groups?

  1. Though I now live in Wiltshire, I'm originally from the area between Camberley and Woking. There are many army and air force personnel in the area and most pubs and many other businesses do ban soldiers. This is because they have a reputation for getting drunk and causing trouble. Usually the ban is for 4 miles from a soldier's base. Usually the businesses will admit out of town soldiers. I haven't seen the article but I wonder if someone carried a policy too far.

The Metro Hotel is not the only hotel in Woking. There's the Holiday Inn, the Premier Inn and many smaller hotels and B&Bs. I'm sure that he could have found accommodation if he had looked.

  2. Perhaps Tooniron could take himself and his computer to Afghanistan , cos that would certainly put the wind up the terrorists. Then we could feel real safe in bed.

  3. Do you have a link?  I don't know the story behind this, but Woking  has a quite few army camps in the area.  It could be that this particular hotel has had problems with service personnel in the past resulting in this policy.   The army bosses themselves may have decreed this hotel off-limits for the same reason.

However, if the Corporal knew he was going to need accommodation while visiting an injured comrade, then he could have applied to his commanding officer to request overnight accommodation at any of the barracks in the area.

Like I say, you haven't provided a link so I don't know the story.

  4. The Metro Hotel must have previous experience of the Royal Anglian Regiment retards !

Don't blame them. That regiment behave like savages with a beer in them.

I support our Troops "On Tour", not when they are home, in civvies and behaving like thugs.

If he is Military personel and visiting a comrade, the Barracks at Pirbright should have accomodated him.

    End of.

Edit. You wanna show gratitude to paralytic drunk idiots who fight (each other) and smash places up? I don't care where they have been it does not give them licence to behave like pigs when they are back here.

On Tour - yes 100%. In civvies, no different to you or I.

  5. ive lived near army camps and i would do the same as the metro hotel. when drunk they behave like savages.

  6. Fantastic, if I ever need a hotel in Surrey, i'll give them a call. Knowing you don't have to spend time in the same building as squaddies has got to be a good thing.

They shouldn't be sleeping comfortably, after killing various innocent people anyway.

  7. I think it was absolutely disgusting and the hotel should be made to answer to their actions rather than providing 'no comment' responses.  It's high time we started supporting our troops more.  This kind of behaviour makes my blood boil!

  8. I think it is an act of poor discrimination, and I think the "METRO HOTEL" is going to be getting a P.R. $HIT kicking in the next little while.

Their actions are very poor indeed.
