What is your opinion of the name Alexia? ?

Why do people use the name Alexia. It has an interesting sound but the meaning and its medical usage makes using the name an odd choice. I know meanings aren't supposed to matter but shouldn't they in certain circumstances? Basically the name is the title of a disorder meaning "brain damage relating to loss of the ability to read". I'm not saying the kid is gonna be illiterate but what a weird name to become popular.

  1. Most people probabally like the way it souds, they just don't care about what it means, it might mean dfferent things in different languages.


  2. Great, if your daughter is going to be a stripper. Don't try to get to fancy with a name. Some names are great for kids, but not so good when they grow up. Don't get too trendy. Try to find a good name that will last a lifetime.

  3. I agree with you. I don't like this name, or Alexis. It sounds like a abbreviation of another name, and for me it doesn't sound right. I like Alicia, Alexander, Alexandra, Alex, but not Alexia or Alexis. I think name meanings are important, as they give the chosen name character. I wouldn't like a name that means a surgical process.

  4. Well most people probably don't know that it's brain damage. I for one did not. It's a lovely name, I love the alternative - Alexis. And to me meanings don't mean anything. I don't know what any of my children's names mean, and don't really care. I gave them normal names that I love. I guess there are tons of people like me out there.

  5. My former friend's daughter's name is Alexia, she doesn't have brain damage but im pretty sure her mother does lol

  8. I think Alexia is a pretty name and have never heard of that disorder. I'm sure most people haven't either so I really doubt they would associate it with a little girl named that. I knew a little girl named Alexia and she was a brat, so I would never name my daughter that, but I still think it's a nice name.
