  3. The first time I ever read that part, it was in a "Good News" translation Bible (very liberally used modern English), and the word they used was "bitterness".  Probably a reference to absinthe or some obscure political reference, like the rest of the story.

  4. Got it growing in my herb garden, Artemisia Absinthe... My opinion is;  its slightly invasive, drought tolerant and puts out an oily substance that keeps other plants from growing around it (except chives and sow pea). Its silvery green leaves are very attractive against a dark background and its bitter as bile.

  5. Wormwood is  really bitter to the taste and it is also somewhat poison

  6. Absinthe makes the head grow foggier.
