  1. I enjoy BMX, they showed the track today on TV and it looks pretty cool, the jump the men have to make looks like it will be fun to watch xD,

  2. I hold the same opinion,if it is Olympic sport, skateboarding and roller blading  should also be one of them,

  3. In my opinion, I beleive BMX being an Olympic sport is fantastic and a great move forward. The cycling discipline of BMX racing has long been the development ground for many Olympians and Olympic medalists has now stepped forward into the light. For those that are not familar with the sport, it will surprise them how professional BMX racing and the athletes competing are dedicated to this sport.

  4. This sport has come long ways to be in this place and it's showing what real athletes can do. I am not taking credits from other sports that are at the Olympics, but it is the mentality of some people what makes this situations to happen, discussions like this one to start and all just because something that it looks different than a boring football, beaisball you cannot enjoy and see the high adrenaline that each single rider, athlete inputs to the sport.

The only thing that you might not see on BMX it's the huge money making people trying to show their millions on tv shows. BMX are the most humble athletes that are trying to show what they are made of, we all grew up watching the OLYMPICS, but having our sport in it makes us push our selves even more, makes us dream about one day we can be there, it teaches you me and every one else that a bike can go so fast with a motor attached to it.

I just wish USA will show more coverage of the sport, I am sure there are people back stage trying to push for it to come out, but it is not up to them to do so. It is about the who's watchiing it and how we will make more money from our sponsors, will it be on "primetime" tonight, doubt it, because the sport it's to good to be shown on live tv, that they don't know what the people want to watch, they jst believe on the money they can pocket.

BMX RACING  ITS AN OLYMPIC SPORT AND ITS HERE TO STAY FOREVER!

  5. i think its part of sports i guess

  6. for too long BMX "racing has been the b*****d child of cycling always dismissed as something for ratty little kids to cause trouble on. If it was not for BMX some of Australia's and even the worlds elite cyclist and mountain bikers may never have come about. BMX is certainly deserved of an Olympic sport. It seems even the media is taking little interest at this stage. With the potential for a gold medal, I wonder how much attention will be payed if one of our Australian riders takes prime possition on the dais. BMX is very exertive and phisical sport, I advise any one with doubts to watch what ever air play chanel 7 have and for people to make up their own minds but i think you might find that at this olympic level of the sport is truly worthy and also engaging for spectators as well..

  7. BMX should be included. The sports included in the olympics should reflect what sports people play in the real world and can relate to. How many kids can relate to equestrian dressage?

  8. It's good for that sport, it is exciting and very entertaining.

There are so many sports that don't belong there, so why wouldn't BMX be Olympic ?

Most people don't know what riders have to do to get the level these riders have.

Would Robbie McEwen be the sprinter he is now, with the capabilty to go though gaps and make awesome moves if 'he didn't grow up on a BMX bike. Same goes for Jamie Staff and Chris Hoy from the UK.

  9. For crying out Loud!, Its the only real sport we have, For some people it is long over due, Mountain bike came under the U.C.I. at the same time and became an Olympic sport in 1996, If you have sports like handball and table tennis and Walking!, C'mon there not sports there recreational activity's. Just you wait till the gate drops, Its going to be wild. All the riders from all the competing nations are all world ranked riders,

  10. Of course it should be. There are other sports that could be deemed as less worthy. Take for example Synchronised swimming.

The Olympics has many sports but what is is that really captivates?

SPEED and SKILL. What other sport offers that adrenaline over 40 seconds and 400 meters  other than BMX.

SO all of you that think BMX is not worthy, STOP! and think about what you are saying. These guys put in some hard yards.

  11. I'll state up front that I'm probably bias cause I'm a bmx racer and have been for a long time. I know how hard these guy's and girls train to race at this level and can assure you they deserve there place on the world stage. Check it out first before making an opinion, you may just be surprised. As for BMX running under the cycling banner, thats only because it comes under the UCI. Most BMXers wouldn't consider themselves traditional cyclists. A lot of Australia's best cyclist started as BMXers i.e Robbie McEwan, Ryan Bayley, Anna Meares, and the list goes on. As I said, check it out, you might just like what  you see.

  12. Sensational... can't get enough of the sport...

  13. I agree. I mean I don't know that much about the 'sport' but I don't like that they consider it cycling. I like real road cycling, not BMX, but that's all just my opinion.

  14. BMX is such a popular sport not only in Aust, but also worldwide.

Almost every Australian has a bike or rode a bike at some point in their life.

Therefore as its a worldwide sport, why not include it in the Olympics -

Its fun to watch, easy to understand & entertaining. And the best thing is - Aust has MANY world class riders.

  15. If BMX is a Olypmic sport, Than mountain biking is a Olympic sport.

No, back scratching should be a olympic sport.

  16. Name a sport where just about all (one of the highest percentage) of the world have experienced other than swimming & running????, CYCLING would have to be up there with the most enjoyed sports of all time. Most of us in Australia would have ridden a BMX bike sometime in our lives.....definately a lot more than say.....rowing, horse riding or shooting to name a few.

Isn't the Olympics about the sports that the majority of the WORLD participate in???? All forms of cycling including the awesome spectacle of BMX racing should of course be involved. Do your self a favour and watch it tomorrow, these guys/girls have been waiting to show you the sport of BMX racing for over 30 years.

  17. BMX is a sport with such a HUGE FAMILY orientation and justly deserves inclusion in the Olympic Games. It's a sport that is demanding for the athlete and yet adrenalin producing for all who view it! Bring it on is what I say!!! What a rush!!! and at the end of the day it's a sport for the 4 to 104 year olds so go ahead and look up your local track SOON you'll have a blast!
