What is your opinion on breast feeding your child up to 9years/10 years old?

I am all for breast feeding. BUT only up to 9/10 months old. NOT YEARS. I can maybe understand one year old...but two? How about 10 years old??? I'm sorry but a 10 year old child feeding from him momma's boob? I feel that's almost perverted.... I think that when a child (like most animals) lose thier milk teeth they should start to be weened...And if a child who is 9 years old is telling thier mom they wanna boob feed....I'd be a little freaked out by that....

We are biologically spose to feed until we are what? 1,2,3, maybe four? it just depends..but why let ur kid feed off ur boob if they just WANT it.. i mean they dont need it..they can eat solid food....

what is your opinions?

Men would you be ok with your wife feeding your 10 year old from her boob?

my belief is that women who still nurse their child well past the recommended time have a problem with letting go and realizing that their children are growing up.

my question is, how can they stand the teeth?

im breastfeeding my newborn now, i couldnt imagine still breastfeeding my 2 year old, she has a mouth full of teeth! that would definitely hurt like h**l

oh heck no!!!! i think at 2 or 3 it should stop. If not before then. But 10 come on now. I mean most 10 year olds are a bit heavy and big to sit in the lap to feed. how is it even done? GROSS

i breast fed my son for a year & a month... and the month was for getting him off the breast

i think 2 years should be the limit, maybe 3 years if there's a health condition, but after that. then something needs to happen, cuz that's incest and child molestation to me.

I've often thought the same thing, but who am I to tell them what's right for them. Can you imagine being a teen boy and your guy friends know you breastfed until you were 10? What a rotten thing to do to your son. This is not something that you can keep secret either. Other moms are going to know and kids are going to over hear. These poor kids will never live it down. My husband still cringes at the thought of sucking on his mom's boob and he only nursed until he was 6 weeks old. Guys think that way. I think he was jealous of our son nursing until he was 16 months, I couldn't imagine what he would do with a 10 year old. And what kind of dad lets their wife do this. My hubby was mad that I nursed past one year. He thought that was gross. I think he might leave me if I tried to nurse a 10 year old. You're right this is wrong, almost bordering on child abuse.

I saw something like that on YouTube...and I found it absolutely disgusting.  I don't think the mental effects are going to be good for the child at all.  Once the child understands s*x....they are going to think back and freak when they can remember sucking on their mom's boob.  How uncomfortable would that be??  It's absolutely nasty.  1 -2 tops should be the cut off age. I think that should be made into a law as some sort of child abuse or something....mentally for a teenager that can actually remember that ....prob will end up being a serial killer and the mother will wonder where she went wrong?

As disgusting as this may seems... I had a neighbor that I had a 12 year old boy that was SPOILED and also breastfed. He came home from school and straight to the breast.

I could not believe it. The mother didn't see anything wrong with it.

This is one of the most disturbing questions i've read... I have never heard of a 9 or 10 year old wanting to do this still... or men... gross, i think.  Social Services should be notified -- they get NO nutritional benefits from breastmilk at this age.  Guaranteed.

Children DO get nutrition from their mother's breastmilk for as long as they receive it. Babies can be born with teeth. If they are latched onto the breast properly they will not bite. My son has 6 teeth. His primary source of nutrition is breastmilk. He doesn't eat much of anything else. His choice, not mine. He is a year old. I plan to breastfeed him as long as possible, since he has no real interest in solid foods. I've known many moms who will pump their milk for their child long after they are done breastfeeding. Breastmilk contains many antibodies that benefit anyone who ingests it. Did you know it can keep even adults heathy? There was a study done with adult cancer patients who recieved breastmilk as a liquid and they had miraculous stories of healing.

As far as men being "ok" with their wives feeding their children- men do not own women's b*****s. b*****s were not grown on women to please men. Sorry but that's the truth. If that's all they are good for, why do we make milk for our babies? It is not really up to my husband when I stop breastfeeding our son, because they are not his b*****s and it is not his body. I share my body with him during s*x, and if that includes breast play so be it. It is very different from letting my child feed. Very much so.

As a nation we need to move away from the ideas that men own women's bodies and b*****s are for their enjoyment. Then maybe we can all stop being icked out by breastfeeding in general. It is a normal, healthy, wonderful way to nourish your babies. b*****s are for babies. It is the biological norm. I once saw a 4 year old walk up to his mom (in public) get under her shirt and start "drinking"  I though that was so wrong.  I think 2 is the very oldest you should breast feed.  I agree that it's more perverted.  Although everyone has a different opinion I think it would somehow make the child weird when it got older!

I BF'd my child until 6 months old and will do the same for my second. I would never do it past one year old though. I think its slightly odd and perverted and the mother is getting satisfaction out of this in some way. She could pump her milk instead of directly feeding her child if she wanted to give them breast milk so badly.

I'm nursing a 20 month old child...

And while I fully support child led weaning (which normally occurs between 2 and 4 years)

And i consider myself an "extended breastfeeder"...

I have issue with nursing an adolecent.

There are several people who lactate for sexual purposes..infact if you search for "breastfeeding" right here on good old Yahoo Groups...you'll find some of these people...

Personally, I think that is one of the reasons that nursing beyond 6 or 12 months gets a bad wrap.  This is a pure and wholesome thing that has become twisted and over sexualized....Perhaps it's because of the hyper sexual nature society now a days...or perhaps it's because like everything else, it has become yet another fetish for the perverse...I don't know.

What I do know...is that there is a time and place for everything...and while your child is a "baby" I think nursing is fine...even if we're talking abotu a 4 year old...but once that child is a "child" that's going a little far.  

If your kid can run a paper route...he shouldn't be nursing.  

If your kid can sell girlscout cookies...she shouldn't be nursing.

We'll see how I feel about it in a year, when my son's three...lol

And for those of you that are hung up on "teeth".  Did you know that some infants are born with teeth?  Teeth have nothing to do with nursing.  The baby doesn't gnaw on you like beef jerky...lol...he or she is suckling ...My son has10 teeth and nursing hurts no more than when he had none.
