What is your opinion on climate change?

Do you think that humans are accelerating the problem?

I personally think that, saving the plant aside, recycling and saving energy has to be a good thing anyway, cos resources are running out and landfills are overflowing.

I personally think we are upsetting the balance of nature. Even though people say to me, well volcanos/cows etc are letting out carbon dioxide, I think thats natural. Anything that we are doing on top of that is tipping the balance of nature and causing more issues. What do you think? BTW im not here to mock anyones answers if they dont believe what I say, I'd like to know more about things.

  1. I share your concern about the environment. I believe it imperative that  we take this problem of global warming very personally. I want people of the developed countries (especially of the USA and China) to take this more seriously. World leaders have done nothing other than pointing their fingers at eachother so far. Let's stop squabbling and let's just do what needs to be done. Please. I live in what is traditionally termed as a third world country. And you guys there is no other place in the world that the effects of global warming is more felt than in the poor countries. We are paying the price for a crime we didn't commit. People are dying of hunger and there is no telling what tomorrow is going to bring. We live in a constant state of uncertainty and fear. Let's stop turning a deaf ear to this problem because it's real and no matter how we try to ignore them, the consequences are becoming ever so palpable. Look around. All the hurricanes and floodings. Those don't come out of no where, we caused them. It's about time we start owning up to the mistakes that we made and look for ways to fix them. I don't understand how politicians are so short-sighted and fail to give protection of the environment top priority (even before the economy or foreign policies and all that c**p). Because after all we can't think of any of those things without having an earth to dwell on.

  2. I am curious what resources you think we are running out of.  In reality, we are not running out of resources.  As a geologists, I have learned that that is largely a myth.  Resources have become more available and cheaper.  We are currently having some problems with oil but has to do more witht the political obsticles to making oil more available.  Certainly, there are no significant metals that have become less available.   Nobody wants a dump in their back yard but if you can do the math, you will figure out very quickly that the amount of trash we generate isn't so great that you can claim we are running out of room.  We may need to open up some new landfills but it isn't as big a problem as often perceived.  You are correct about cows.   Cows letting off gas does nothing to increase CO2 since obviously cows eat grass that removes CO2 from the atmosphere.

  3. It's part of how the world works. It's all pointless going green because it won't make any difference, the earth's atmosphere has changed constantly through history and that's never going to change.

I don't remember anyone complaining when the plain between france and england was flooded after an ice age.

We should concentrate on more important things like saving the rainforest and protecting the countryside from those hideous wind turbines

  4. needless to say it's worrying, what annoys me is that i work in a school and every classroom has a recycling bin, and the kids do SO well in filling them up, it's so good to know kids are being taught to recycle. but at the end of the day those bags are put out with the "normal" rubbish. so they don't get recycled. it makes me so mad, i hope the kids don't find out.

  5. Global warming is a con game for economic and political power by a group of politicians around the world. It has not happened, will not happen and cannot happen and anybody with even an average high school education should know better or our schools are in worse shape than I thought they were. The sea level rise happened 11,000 years ago when the ice age ended and the mile high glaciers melted. Global warming or climate change as they now call it is on about the same level of truth as the Nigerian email scam or those emails supposedly from your bank wanting you to reenter your security information so they can clean you out. So be careful if you accept the AGW scam you are prime meat for any of the rash of identity theft email scams out there.

  6. i think it is a load of rubbish, our climate has changed throughout history long before any of the man made influences. i think it is just another way for the man to control us and take more cash from our pockets.

  7. Global Warming ------------  The Earths own cycle of about every 10,000 years genreating tempurature fluxuations as a result of various elements from the sun, the earth's core, weather patterns and natural gasses from inside the planet all occuring around the same century of time. It's been going on before the dawn of man, and will long continue long after humanity is gone. In the meantime, the sensible thing to do is take care of the planet as long as we're on it in order to best enjoy what it has to offer.  For now, those who feel humans cause this thing we call global warming are left with too much free time on their hands and have become delusional of activist causes. The ozone parianoid died out, now its global warming. Take care of what we have the best humans can do. Leave 'mother nature' to do whatever she does, as we're all helpless to change that, even global warming.

  8. nah you're totally right.

i think everyone should buy a bike.

  9. At this point there is almost no doubt that humans are the primary cause of the global warming over the past 30 years (though not quite the only cause) and have played a significant role in the warming over the past century.

Even if that were not the case, our fossil fuel consumption is having lots of negative impacts.  For example, we're importing a lot of foreign oil from a lot of unstable political regions.  We're increasing atmospheric CO2 which is causing ocean acidification which is killing coral reefs, which are the habitat for millions of aquatic species.  We're causing other forms of air pollution as well.

You are correct that regardless of global warming, humans need to become more aware of our environmental impact.

  10. Humans have been accelerating the problem over the past 50 years due to advances in technology. But the ever present sight of fossil fuels being burnt has been a problem for over a century in mass dosage.

Sad thing is, they're not using the technology to benefit reversing what's been done. Wind Farms cost too much for most counties, as do Solar Panels, and all the alike. So now they (government, councils) rely on us to make the changes. For some, this is fine, like myself as I love knowing I've made a difference. But some people are just too bone idle and don't realise the effects across the world.

On a good note, I'm quite impressed with the way the recycling in local councils is carried out. It feels good knowing all that card and paper will be re-used. But the normal waste still out weighs it...

If I was P.M and could change the way things are, I'd reduce the number of normal waste bin disposals, I'd go round schools teaching kids the benefits of recycling, and would invest in looking at "future" proof ways of reducing the necessity for fossil fuels.

  11. You are correct in asking for an opinion as the science for either side just isn't there... yet. Not until it stops being a matter of politics will we know the facts. Until then, let's treat our planet with respect.

  12. 2008 is one of the coolest in last decade and the trend is for cooler years to come. Yet they keep trying to convince us (and themselves) that the globe is warming up. Is it because there's so much more funding in it?

  13. We cannot save the planet, we can change ourselves to become a better person, that is a individual choicel.  We need to learn how treat ecah other better and work on the moral climate for that is what we can truly change.

  14. you just following the trend at the moment,we do this ,we do that, it might  restore some balance into his world, the world doesn't revolve around britain,go and express your opinions to the chinese,go to india or russia better still how about mexico or africa where over 100 billion pounds over 25 years has been donated and yet they are still starving, these countries don't care about climate change or pollution and all of the others, they are more productive than we are.don't get me wrong i do my bit in recycling, ride my bike when i don't need to drive and all but what i do know is this that i'm not GOD and i can't change the weather.nature has a habit of re-correcting itself anyway,so just relax and don't get 2 absorbed in this.

  15. We have been causing the problem since the 1800's prior to that we only burned what we could carry and it was  self-limiting.

I remember in the 1970's winters were cold dry and white and summers short with blue skies with spring and Autumn the wet periods.

now we have warm wet winters and .... warm wet summers.

Global warming has caused this are it was predicted in the 1970's.

volcano's spew out large amount of CO2 but thats been overestimated by the anti-climate lobby and now its not nearly as much CO2 as we do now.

We have cut down the plants that can absorb it, we burn the fossil fuels. we have tipped the balance and are now seeing the consequences when the ice on greenland melts watch out if you live less than 30ft above the now sea level.

we are in a use it now and forget about the future society, landfill is full, the tree's have been cut down and the forest is burning and yet we continue to ignore it and moan at anyone who asks us tho change to save this world.

personally we are doing as much as we can to reduce our impact from energy saving light-bulbs to reusing and  getting the smallest that does what we need inc as environmentally friendly as we can.

but I am fearful that without others taking note its a waste - our home is 25ft above sea level and we are selling now!!

Many people are not convinced and ask for more proof as if 99.999% of researcher confirming that its true and  vanishing glaciers and rising sea level and  vanishing ice shelf's is not enough proof. These people will  only accept that they have enough proof when their lives change when major cities such as Washington, London, Amsterdam disappear under 20 ft of water caused when the greenland ice finally tips above 0C and floods us in 27 ft of extra sea level.

  16. I think we are definalty causing great damage.  There is no way people can ignore all the facts.. or they can, but at what cost to us all?

In my business, as protecting crops and farms from natural disaters, we have seen a hugge increase and a growing need for this kind of protection. The floods are not coming form no where.. and it's not all "natural".Same with Hurricanes, tornados, wildfires, etc..

  17. No, its all a big hoax, a fraud, designed to transfer wealth to the UN.

It is time to end this nonsense.
