  1. i think it is outragous and a middle class person can't make it. with the gas and food prices like they are i'm about ready to quit my job and go on welfare then maybe i'll have half a change . I have a family to think about and i'm tired of the stress and struggle, this world is going to h**l in a handbag. what happen to the freedom usa claims we have.

  2. If you get 15mpg and don't care about others, because you can afford it, it's not high enough for you. I feel for those who have financial difficulties, but what people should understand is that the more the gas-guzzlers use to do the same amount of work as someone efficient, the more expensive they make it for everyone else. Simple supply and demand economics.

Driving around in one of those inefficient behemoths is a big fat FU to the rest of us. They might as well be driving around with their middle finger out to the rest of the world.

  3. They are almost high enough. I will know they are high enough when I am not sitting in traffic with RVs towing boats, jet skis, and ATVs. I will know they are high enough when there are no Hummers on the road. I will know they are high enough when Ford, GM and Chrysler all stop production of SUVs. Not just cut back, but stop completely. Until then, we are the victims of an economic disaster of our own making. When I commute to work and get 35 miles per gallon and there is someone next to me that is making the exact same trip and getting 15 miles per gallon, it tells me that the price of fuel is not high enough to force that person to conserve. People will never voluntarily conserve fuel. If it is cheap, they will burn it with no regard to how it affects the economy, the price of fuel, or the environment. They will have to be forced into it by the price. The problem is that the middle and lower economic classes are the ones who are forced to be economically and environmentally responsible because we cannot afford not to be. The upper class will continue to waste fuel until it is too expensive for them, at which point it will have been way too expensive for the rest of us for a long while. The way this is shaping up is that the middle class and the lower class are looking like heroes because we are the ones who are cutting back and conserving, while the upper class is looking like the bad guy for wasting oil at an astronomical rate because there is no incentive for them to stop.

  4. Gas prices are destroying our economy.

  5. The gas prices are making Exxon rich and the middle class poor. I can barely make it to work and one of my friends had to quit her job because the gas prices made it not worth the commute. I don't know why Exxon was allowed to make a $10.9 Billion profit. They should be made to roll back prices!

  6. war pigs and greedy texans run this country...
