  1. Older people should be required to take an annual test just to make that they are okay to drive and young people should take a test every two years just to make sure that they know how to still drive......

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA, http://www.nhtsa.dot.gov ).

Among licensed drivers, young people between the ages of 15 and 20 have the highest rate of fatal crashes relative to other age groups, including the elderly. In fact, the risk of being involved in a fatal crash for teens is three times greater than for drivers age 65 to 69.

  2. What do YOU THINK OF women DRIVERS?

    Define OLD.

Where I live the biggest problem is black women drivers. They will not give way on rounabouts, they don't even bother looking.

  3. i think they should be shown where the accelartor is

  4. Dont cause as many accidents as young people driving.Insurance premiums proves it.

  5. I think they need tobe tested regularly

  6. You will be an old driver one day.

  7. Once their reaction time starts slowing down they should get off the road.

  8. dangerous!!! I've watched programs on them driving the wrong way down motorway's for god's sake! they don't have quick enough reactions!

  9. we are all going to get old. and we will be the old biddy in front.  what you gonna say then............BLOODY younsters always racing round..

  10. I used to think that they were pretty bad as a rule: Now, after over twenty years of driving, I think the general standard of driving regardless of age, race or location is going downhill, fast! I'm as likely to see a teenager not signalling, not using mirrors, being discourteous etc., as I am to see a pensioner pulling out in front of me.

Don't get me wrong, I guarantee that I speed every day, but it'll be where the's no danger in doing 70mph on an A road or something similar: I'll do 20mph on the same road if I think conditions dictate.

ps Never had a point on my license, fine, conviction or parking ticket.

    Touch wood!

  11. They are better mannered, drive more safely, are more aware of other road users, know the highway code better, and cause less accidents than young drivers.

  12. What a stupid question! There are bad old drivers, bad middle-age drivers and bad young drivers. Conversely, the same applies to good and excellent drivers.

  13. They have a right to drive just as I and everybody else does.

  14. I certainly agree with some sort of testing after a driver reaches 60 (my father's just renewed his licence - he's 70 in july) yet he maintains that his reactions are as fast as mine???? (i'm 29 by the way) let's say that i've certainly noticed a slowdown in his reactions when driving over the last 10 years.

  15. i Think its fine as long as they don't drive so abnormally that its dangerous for traffic or makes the road congested (i.e. 40mph on a free way or 10mph on a single lane 45mph road) I say this from personal experience too... sometimes i'm stuck behind an old person driving and he/she will be doing like 40 on the freeway, which is wayy to slow for the freeway and people are zipping by like crazy. Also been stuck on a single lane road behind an old guy for a good 10 minutes cause he was only driving about 10mph on a 45mph road. It creates traffic congestion and people want to go around them on a road with one lane each way (which creates a danger for oncoming cars)

  16. I think it's quite cute. Until I get stuck behind one.

  17. Totally dangerous. They should at least sit another test.

My ex=partner was a firefighter who used to have to pull them out of car wrecks. Their reaction times are way slower.

  18. I don't think they should.

I love old people, but some of them are such dangerous drivers.

They hardly ever use indicators, they drive too slow (not the speed limit, about 20mph under the speed limit!).

I think everyone over 60 should retake their test, at 60, a lot of things start "going". A lot lose part of their vision and hearing - which is a big no no whilst driving.

If they can pass a second test when they are 60, I suppose they are safe enough.
