I have put one of these rifles on layaway and I am wondering what is your opinion about the Century Arms Galil rifle, a semi-auto clone of the IMI (Israel Military Industries) Galil rifle used in Israel. I have checked a lot of online forums, gun enthusiast chat rooms, and all I have heard is good things about it. What is your opinion about it and have your fired one, and is it really accurate? Thanks for sharing your answers.

  1. I bought one several months ago and kept it for about two days. It wouldn't reliably feed ammo. Even hand cycling to charge the weapon was a no-go about 70% of the time. Luckily I was able to take it back to my local shop and return it for a full refund. It was an upgraded model with the upgrade stamp "F" on the bottom of the receiver.

If you get one find one with a serial over 3000 and make sure you check it for function as soon as you can.

FWIW I would like to try another one, as I absolutely love the Galil rifle.

  2. If the Century Arms Import is a 100% Galil it is a good rifle. They are deadly reliable but heavier than comparable AK's or early M-16's.  Accuracy is on par with the AK and well below the AR.

In the 1980's while active duty we had joint training with the IDF in the Middle East and I remember their Galil's having heavy weight barrels compared to my M16A1.
