  1. I don't quite understand the exact question, but if you are asking if the F16 is a good aircraft, it's one of the best around.  How good it is, will (in large part) be determined by the pilot flying it, though.

  2. Reading through the other answers was interesting, they all assume that you will get the US version. BAC sold some Lightings to the Saudi Air Force may, many years ago. The were NOT the same plane that the RAF had, I know, I worked on the radar system.

  3. Your country has made a great choice. The F-16 is one of the best multi-role fighter ever built, is the first fighter to use fly-by-wire control systems, is extremely versatile and is one the safest and most reliable weapons system of the modern era. It's upgraded versions like the C/D are one of the most advanced fighters of today. Although not as advanced as those 5th generation fighters like the F-22, this generation 4.5 fighter still does it's job well, capable of taking down any enemy fighters in air-to-air combat, carrying out strategic bombing missions and reconnaissance.

This video will give you an even greater look at the Falcon:

(And the Fighting Falcon is my favourite fighter plane!)

  4. You can be proud your country has just bought the standard fighter for NATO countries. This plane will put to shame most Russian built birds and still has room for upgrades. Your pilots will be in seventh heaven now that they have real planes to fly. It will be a real eye opening experience for them and should also help the pocket book as American fighters require less maintenance and use way less fuel.

  5. Everything Jim had + JSTARS and some newer techs. It is EXCELLENT A2A and inclose it's the best, which is why Eagle drivers won't play tennis with Viper drivers because they don't want them within 12 miles of them.

The APG upgrades make it a much better machine, though it will never be the flying radar platform the Eagle is.

I did see where the PolAF had purchased 48 Block 52 a/c and already had 3 returns, a couple for smoke in the cockpit that were non-incidents. It is an excellent machine and the best ride I ever had. I flew the A+ waaaaay.. back when they were new. The Block 52s are much much more advanced than what we saw, and though not cutting edge, still an excellent machine.

  6. A brilliant upgrade of an already excellent aircraft. The whole mission profile has been enhanced and the aircraft made more lethal and versatile.

  7. Great all around weapon system.  Decent Air/Air, great Air/mud capability.  Also can be used for SEAD/DEAD.  Air refuelable, and most importantly can datalink via SNIPR pod with UAVs, JTACs, not to mention other jets and AWACS.
