I'm thinking about buying a Ford Mustang as my first car, most likely a 98-03 somewhere in between there. What do you guys think of these mustangs? Are they dependable? I've heard alot of bad about Ford. Thanks!

  1. People can tell you what they want about Ford. Ford makes great vehicles, No I don't own one as a daily driver, I have a Mustang but that's all. I'm a mechanic, so I see all sorts of problems, and Fords are very well designed, reliable vehicles. One guy that claims to know something about cars will tell another guy "Ford's are junk" so then the other guy goes and tell another and so on, that's how this whole thing started.

Of all cars on the road, I would have to say Chryslers are in most cases the worst of them all, reliable, but I think they hired a few drunks as engineers, as some of their stuff, is just terrible to work on, and some, (Neons) are the worst vehicles ever put on the street.

If you like the Mustang, buy it, They are extremely reliable, one of the most reliable cars on the market. At our shop, we have NEVER had a Mustang about the year of 96 come in for repairs with the 4.6, lots come in for modifications, but never repairs. I would go for the 2000-04 body style though, as they are quite the pretty car. Bang for buck, the best you can get.

  2. Ford Mustang?  go for it !

The ford mustang was the best thing that lee Iaccoca did for

ford when he was there in the early 60s

If you get a stang do not get a mustang ll they where horrible.

go for a 90 -97 with a small block under the hood.

For a first car stay way far Way from the 5.0 or bigger motors you can wind up in trouble real fast with one of them.

My nephew has a 88 hatch back that is asuper charged 5.0 & runs only at the drag strip..

  3. My first car was a 2002 Ford mustang GT Convertible, and it ran great. i would still have it if i did not total it in 2006. I am a mustang girl at heart so i would say get one. They are my all time favorite cars.

  4. Why don't you try to find a Mustang that has been redone...but was a classic....like the 64................that would be so fantastic.............the older cars were the best.....and they were made to last♥

  5. Its the worse handling car I've ever driven, they corner terribly, don't have any power (yeah I'm talking about the sick V8) and are extremely loose in the rearend.  I recently bought a GT for my wife and got rid of it after a very short time.  I actually sold it WAY under retail just to get rid of the piece of junk.  They are very nice looking but, I wouldn't take one if it was free!

  6. They are good cars(I say this as a GM guy), but you NEED to get the GT. The V6 stang(especially that era) were dogs. My V6 Grand Prix would destroy one and mine isn't even supercharged. They are called the bitchstang for a reason and that's because only women are supposed to drive V6 Mustangs.

  7. i've always liked mustangs.  i think they make a good first car.

i thought i had heard all the ford jokes till i started racing obstacle course.  they told me flip over read directions.

  8. well i have a 99 mustang and it has 149000 miles on it and it hasnt died yet. they use gas up fast though. we have had some problems with the spark plug wires arking and the engine misfiring a few times but we got that fixed and dont rive it in the winter even with snow tires. its slides easy.

so if you want a car for the look get a mustang but if your looking for a car that you can drive all year long and is easy on gas you might want to find something else.

  9. Very nice looking car, but I wouldn't buy a Ford. I have never anything good about them.

  10. its over rated

  11. i like them
