Two drivers in the mid 20s ranking in a part time role. That sure seems to me to be a meaningless penalty.

You have to understand the difference between blatent cheating and trying things in the grey area. This was fraud, blatent cheating and it has helped the drivers and the owners greatly if it has gone on all year.

  3. There shouldn't have been any penalties to the drivers, unless they could prove that the drivers put the magnets under the throttles after the race.Today's drivers don't work on their own cars!!!

The other penalties were right on and will hurt both of those teams to the point of having to basically rebuild them! I'm glad to hear that JGR plans to also take part in the punishment of the employee or employees who did this! If I were Joe Gibbs I'd fire whoever on the spot for what this has cost them in reputation alone!

    PEACE!

  4. When a person cheats at a sport whether knowingly or unknowingly, he taints that sport. As a  result, that sport will have to recover from that person's fall from grace. It will always be talked about. Any scandal is always talked about. The doping in the Tour de France, the bulking up in the olympics, The Yankees vs Kansas  City  pine tar  incident, the horse dopings, and the 1919  Black Socks are just a few examples.

  5. I hadn't accused JGR of cheating before this incident came to light but now you have to wonder what they might have been up to all along?  I think this taints their accomplishment and is a black eye for Joe.  I certainly don't think that he is directly responsible for it but everyone would be saying that if it were Roush or Hendrick that were in this situation.  The penalties should serve notice that if you do something as blatant as what they did the penalties will be severe.  It is not the driver penalties that will hurt JGR's Nationwide Series program but the loss of personnel.

    3 STR8 N 08!!!

  6. The drivers don't mean much but the indefinite suspensions of that many crew members will hurt big time! So will the loss of owner points on the #20.

  7. Regardless of the drivers being in the mid 20s on rankings, you have to apply penalties regardless of ranking. It certainly would matter to the top 3 drivers.

  8. It may not be fair to the drivers, however, they are part of the team. It does send a message to the owners. Actually, I feel it was a rather light penalty.

  9. Too lenient.  Park one car for remainder of season. Dock other 500 points and force to start shotgun on the field for the rest of the races and not get to pick for pit stall but take whatever is left after everyone else chooses.

  10. Not so meaningless when you consider the owners championship could be at stake.. (I don't think 150 points is going to damage them much right off the bat) buttttt... losing all those members for probably the rest of the season will take its tole on the team, and could cost them the owners championship down the road.
