  1. false because there r going to be an coming April 13,2029 Friday

  2. honestly i hope it does... it's not enough to eleminate our species entirely and it'd be one of h**l of a lifetime oppurtunity to get to see that.... as morbid as that sounds...

  3. There is a scale that measures threat range for potential collisions. The highest, out of 10, was 4, given to Apophis. That was demoted to 0 after careful observation.

If there is an object with a high risk, it will be tracked carefully, and if necessary, action will be taken to safeguard people or destroy the asteroid.

  4. There are no opinions. Only facts.

The asteroid receiving the 2036 hype is called 2004MN4 but is better known by those who hype this asteroid as a doomsday object as 99942 Apophis.

When it was found that 2004MN4 posed no threat to Earth in 2029, those who desire to see the Earth end proposed 2036 as the next doomsday date. End-of-the-world hoaxers grab any reason they can dream of as an excuse and Apophis is no different.

Currently it has a 1 in 45,000 chance of impact which is very very small. Further observations in 2011 should reduce the chance to even smaller. In NASA terminology, a 1 in 45,000 chance is the same as saying 'no chance'.

Estimates of asteroid impacts are not based upon opinions but on reliable sophisticated computer orbital projections. The standard is always to estimate with a large parameter of possible trajectories and as the asteroid's orbit is studied the parameters of its orbit become more defined. The chance of impact will go down with further study, never up.

  5. lmao.. if it hits earth , the good! stupid planet needs to die anyway, cuz we're choking it

  6. That's obsolete information. There are no asteroids or comets currently predicted to hit the Earth, according to NASA-JPL's Near Earth Object web site:

    http://neo.jpl.nasa.gov/

  7. Bound to happen at some point, either that or nuclear apocalypse

  8. It could happen

    just wait and see ;)

  9. As long as I do not see it coming I do not care!

  10. i don't think so cause its going to happened one day like it happened before but i mean not like in 2036 it will be like in 2050 or something like that

  11. they need to come up with counter measures then

  12. The Planet is used to a periodic destruction of life, so the chances are probable at any time.

If we really got our act in order, we could be the first ever creature on this planet to stop these periodic events happening.

Until that time, we are an endangered species.

  13. 1%.

  14. The probability of the asteroid Apophis hiiting Earth in 2036 is currently 1 in 45,000 and will no doubt lengthen as time goes by and more observations are analysed. For U.S.A. citizens, these are about the same odds as being killed in a road accident in the next two months. You should be more worried about your travel arrangements than about asteroids.

  15. Yes-- their is one headed this way but the odds of it impacting Earth are very very improbable. On it's next orbit around in about 2013 -- astronomers will get better orbit data...... but right now it will miss us.

Here is an article about it---

  16. MY opinion don't mean spit.... but those in the know, those who have done the measurements, done the math, say it will pass about thirty million miles out.... no biggie in my book............
