Friends, is not bringing out a giver out of someone a gift greater in weightage than that gift, which merely makes a person feel guilty of being dependent on the someone. I mean, is not the act of helping the beggar identify his or her potential as a giver greater than just merely keeping money in his hands just because we want to avoid him because he bothered us? Is not allowing someone to do something for us because it makes the person feel happy as a giver ,a True gift in comparison to just making that person dependent on us ? So can I conclude that Giving is all about making our fellow human beings happy irrespective of their position as a giver or receipient? Please share your views

Years back i had seen a photograph of nest which showed a bird feeding its baby bird by puting food into the mouth of the baby through its beak. This photograph was on the cover of a book called GIVING. Eversince i have been trying my best interpretations to arrive at the numerous ways in which the mother bird was giving to its child by feeding it with its beak. Of one of the final interpretations that i have reached is that 'Even the act of allowing someone to do something for us because it makes that person happy is an act of giving because it gives a happiness to the person through a sense of contribution. Does this not prove that the love of Almighty grows through making someone smile, making him or her forget her shortcomings, because one cannot love Almighty by hating his creation alongside?

  1. Thank you for your question.

If it's a panhandler, we are told NOT to give, because that person will really spend the money on booze or drugs to "become happy." They are to call 211 for help instead if they are truly needy.

The question I have is - at what point do my efforts become "dead works?"

My rule is - just do what one is able to do, not forgetting that God provides.

    God love you!

  2. Was that wall of text really necessary?

You could have just said the old "Give a man a fish, teach a man to fish," maxim and be done with it. Sometimes there's more wisdom in simplicity, you know.
