  1. i'm thinking of a portion of a large city with cool black men in big afros, purple suits and stretch black limos.  they're all wearing dark wire rim shades in the middle of the night, with hats with feathers in them.  platform shoes, no drugs, no crime, (maybe a little prostitution..).

this is the vision of a middle aged white man of funky town, much better than my view of redneckville....

  2. When i first heard the song without knowing the lyrics, and my English was limited,  i imagined that 'funky' was something indecent, and i thought it was so daring for the song-writer to have composed a song about the whole  town being so indulgent in s*x. Never knew what funky really meant, as it was never used in my community, but the other naughtier version was better understood and more readily used with gusto. However, the beat of the music was so very catchy and everyone never bothered each time to sing 'funky', but otherwise. I believe it  will be an evergreen song for several more decades due to its interesting title, creative and lively music!

  3. ...a lot of shuck and jive...roaring on caffeine...

  4. An animation of a huge town in the background with a long over-exaggerated road coming out of it. There is a big red bus on this road coming out of the town. The animation is big, cubey and bendy. Very funky.

  5. town with funky people and funky stuff

  6. A lot of people doing the "funky chicken".

  7. like retro, hippies or maybe something like glam rock perhaps?! idk!

  8. the 70's

  9. Well the first thing that comes to mind is the Sound 80 studio which is where the song "Funkytown" was recorded, because I drive by the building often in Minneapolis, Minnesota. It is in my old neighborhood. It later turned into a music store and now is just a business. I know that is not a philosophical answer. Here is that one:

Since the person singing the song is singing it IN Minneapolis, then they must be talking about a different town which is funkier than Minneapolis. So I always associate it with NYC. Where do things get more funky than there?

    Don't answer that.
