What is your personal family heritage? What part of the world do your ancestors come from? Do you know how many generations of your ancestors have lived in this country? Are there any specific customs/traditions that you follow that were followed by your Parents? Grandparents? Do you plan to pass any of these customs/traditions on to your children? Does your grocery store list reflect your family's heritage? Does your mode of dress reflect your family's heritage?

  1. My paternal side  has at least 10 generations born in England, including myself. That makes me 1/2 English.

My mother's family come from Belgium and Switzerland, and we've found 5 generations on each side so far, born in both of those countries. However before that I've been assured we had ancestors living in the Alsace (France/Germany), and also in Holland. These aren't confirmed by censuses or certificates, so I'm not 100% on these just yet.

There aren't really any traditions in our family, aside from the cultural differences. ie, we celebrate one Christmas on St Nicks day (6th December) with my mother, since that's how she was raised, and we have a family dinner on Christmas Eve. On Christmas day we celebrate with our dad.

My grocery store list does NOT reflect my heritage (LOL, good question!). My family can cook lovely meals, but I think their culinary skills skipped my generation!

My mode of dress doesn't really reflect my heritage. It reflects the country I live in and the fashions that are around. I don't go out buying the latest trends just to be fashionable, but I don't go around wearing farmers outfits to mimick the agricultural labourers on my father's side.

  2. My parents were from the UK. My Mother immigrated from Ireland with her parents when she was 5 and my Father came from England. His aunty has traced back 200 years of our ancestorage and found our Name was originally from England, then to Scottland and Back to England. I am fortunate enough to know all my first cousins and all my aunties and uncles on both sides of the family. We don't have any customs that we have kept only the Catholicism from my mothers side, although i am a Wiccan and i intend to pass earth magic onto my own children as well as their Family tree which has 7 generations
