Not just the quality of your job, but has your job allowed you to have a greater quality of life? How so? I would never choose a career based on becoming for superficial reasons, but since I am studying engineering I just want to know what your quality of life is like?

  1. your career doesn't make your quality of life, you make it.  I choose to sacrifice quality of life for career at first, now I maximize my quality of life and can sacrifice career.

Choices are nice, huh.  If we switch to socialism, you won't get to make choices like this.  Point here is, you may not have control over your quality of life if the government takes over.

  2. I work a lot, but I have a lot of things that many people can't afford.

  3. Mine's pretty decent

Good pay and you are well looked on by companies for the most part

Can be very satisfying seeing something you invented work and change the world for the better.  I've done some huge energy and costs savings as well as environmental impact lessening, felt pretty good

Can get to be some big hours if you are a manufactuer that works 24/7 (most do) and you have problems. But most times its pretty 9-5 especially as you move up

Typically don't have to deal with people issues,  that's what managers are for

Tend to get decent respect from community but most people glaze over when I say engineer....they think I'm all brainy and such and don't bother trying to talk to me....I'm just a regular joe.

I'd say its pretty good, can't complain
