What is your reaction about the gymnastics at the Beijing Olympics '08?

I think that there were some outstanding performances from many countries, but i honestly think that the Chinese in some but not all cases were judged better than they should have been, and the USA was judged worse than should have been. I am perfectly okay with the all-around, the beam finals and the floor finals because I think the people who won really deserved it. Let's start with vault. I think it's completely unfair and ridiculous for Cheng Fei, who FELL to have gotten a higher average score than most of them, let alone Alicia Sacramone. That just seems insane to me. It's been made very clear that falling should never be on the options list, and that a fall should and normally does eliminate a chance for a medal, so I thought that was unfair. Now, for bars. I completely respect that even the last hair of the scores put Nastia in 2nd, but if they got the same score, it think it's just saddening to rob one of them of their medal. I think it should have been like the olden days, where they gave out double golds. If they both got the same score, they are both equally deserving. It really diminishes world unity, that one person needs to win. I think it would have been really meaningful for both of them to have received gold and to have heard both of the anthems. And trust me, I would feel the exact same way if Nastia had ended up with the lone gold.

Gee, China was making a lot of mistakes listing those girls as being under 16 before the olympics, only to fix those mistakes to show they are 16. Thank God China found those correct birth certificates.

The officals reviewing those documents  were under no pressure or had concerns they had a choice between being in a chinese jail for something or leaving the country as scheduled.

The American silver medalist said "Even if she is underage she worked hard to compete and you have to respect that"

Her Russian father got upset.

But yeah, she is probably underaged, but remember the money you can earn winning gold is very high, so of course they will risk it just like the many cheating americans of past years.
