What is your reaction to this poem?

Question

Some of our youth have been misled into thinking that the system under which we live is outdated. It should be changed by those outside of our country who think that they know best what is good for us.

Will the youth of our country hesitate in defending truth and right,

While an enemy attacks us will they run and avoid the fight.

While they know the powers of the enemy seek to destroy the work their fathers had begun.

Shall the children of our country refuse to fight and turn to run.

Will they fight for their own freedom, will they lean towards the truth.

Will they watch and act with courage with the fervent passion of youth.

Will they do their best to be found worthy of the nation we all adore

With the faithful ones together honoring our nations lore.

True to the freedom that their parents have cherished,

True to the freedom for which loved ones have perished.

To their countries command, soul, heart and hand,

Faithful and true I believe our youth WILL forever stand.

Being a youth, i personally think this is awesome. Anytime you can put life into perspective in an artistic way, hip-hop, dance, poetry, anybody will listen to this kind of stuff.

An ageless enigma.  No matter when it happens, there will always be those who will turn and run and accept the outcome no matter what, there will be those who will follow as lemmings, and will all die together.  Also there will be those who will fight, and hopefully be strong enough to keep the life they love for themselves and the cowards who run.

I found the use of will will will while while and true true beggining so many sentances a little distracting from the peice. I think using a variety of beggining words would make it better. IMO.

This is very strong subject matter to ponder.  It depends - on how much - our youth - love and respect the country - that gives them their existence. If their existence is tainted - do they still want to fight to keep it? That is a true question. Right or wrong - their country is worth fighting for. For we are all "joined at the hip" to our soil. If the USA is not defended - then what will be the alternative for all?
