  1. peta are emmm not in possesion of thier faculties....maybe 3 fries short of a happy meal???

they seem to think callign you a murderer, and petrol bombing things is gonna make people respect them

if you cant voice a concern without terrorist acts then dont voice it at all

EDIT tinydancer...you dont have to express violence to get somthing done...and if thats all that people can resort to then their opinions dont matter

a true human being is capable of reasoning and expressing a view without violence

  2. PETA has a way of exadurating and going to extremes to get their point across.

While I approve their intentions, I don't approve of how radical they are.

  3. I do know that they do a lot of thing to help out the animal rights cause but at the same time they do hurt it a lot.

I agree with them on somethings but there are a lot that I do not agree on. I don't believe in killing an animal just because it can't be released into the wild. They always say animals are better off dead then alive.

In the end, I probably would never donate any money to them. I would find an organization that I would agree with more.

  4. Well I didnt know much about them before, but I signed up for their e-newsletter.

& They sent me an email yesterday saying how they got the KFCS in Canada to minimize the torture they put on chickens while kiling them, it took them 5 years.

Theyre tryig to do it all over the world now.

So yeah. they do help  alot.

  5. peta is good. i notice some people here have mentioned that peta kill some animals that they rescue. this is true. but its done humanely when they are unable to find a good home for the animals. rather than let them live a bad life in bad conditions the animals are put down .peta are trying for a more humane life and death for kfc chickens. they do their best and its working. if sometimes they make mistakes? well we all do that but they are doing what they can to the best of their ability. i admire them  and wish them well in their quest for humane treatment for all animals

  6. Check out Penn & Teller's BS episode about P.E.T.A:

    http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=...

They are awful in every way.

  7. They are just people who believe in the ethical treatment of animals. I expect they have done some good over the years but on saying that there is probably a minority of extremest who do over step the mark. I am not a vegetarian, tree-hugger but i do believe animals should be treated right even if it is only food for the masses.

Why wont anyone try to save the carrots, don't they have feelings to.

  8. There is a HUGE difference between treating animals ethically and treating them like people. I had a run in with some PETA members once at university, they were picketing the medical school. We handed out volunteer forms, but no one was willing to take the place of an animal - go figure.

  9. Honestly, I have no clue...and I think PETA is in the same boat that I am. I don't know what they are doing, all I know is that PETA stands for People who Eat and Torture Animals!

(IDIOTS...LISTEN UP): FOR THE FOLLOWING COMMENTERS, IF YOU HAVE A PROBLEM WITH MY ANSWER...THEN YOU NEED TO LOOSEN YOUR TIE!

IF YOU THINK I HONESTLY BELIEVE THAT THE ACRONYM PETA STANDS FOR WHAT I JUST SAID, THEN SLAP YOUR SELF ONTO THE CENTER LANE OF AN INTERSTATE...thank you.

  10. What they say is the truth...It's not their fault if the truth bothers people.  Some people would rather just not know some of the things they bring to light.  It's the people who don't care or don't want to know who have a problem with Peta.

Peta has helped form who I am morally...Before I saw meet your meat I had no idea what the meat industry was really like.  Now that I know my life is so much different.  I think before I eat something.

Peta does go a little overboard though by saying people shouldn't have pets.  I disagree with that.

I am glad Peta is around though and I'm a member.  And for the people who say they are money grubbing:  I get way more helpful information that I get e-mails asking for money...and any organization that you belong to will ask for money whether they are Peta or not.

And I don't think it's bad that Peta has campaigns aimed at kids.  Even the kid's own parents don't know what the meat industry is like, or they know and don't care.  Let Peta teach them so the new generations can end the cruelty.

  11. i hate peta.. they are so extreme in their ways.  i got a brochure from them and they where banging on about how babies shouldn't have breast milk.

  12. Well, PETA just had an incredible victory in its KFC campaign. KFC Canada has agreed to buy 100% of its chickens from suppliers that use controlled-atmosphere killing. (That's the least cruel form of poultry slaughter ever developed.) Also, 461 KFCs in Canada will now offer a vegan faux-chicken item. This happened as a result of PETA's campaign and negotiations.

Today, PETA announced another victory. After almost four months of discussions with PETA, Adidas has decided to boycott all wool from mulesed lambs. (Mulesing is a standard mutilation used by Australian woolgrowers. They carve huge chunks of skin and flesh from lambs' backsides with metal shears.)

So I'd say that PETA does amazing work! I don't agree with every single thing they've done, but overall they do so much to help reduce suffering and raise awareness of animal rights issues.

  13. Is there a Petabot in this forum?

I HATE peta, any group that says a blind person shouldn't use a guide dog is just plain evil. I know a blind man that has been harrassed by PETA activists more then one time.

  14. Anyone who uses noted atttention seeker, Heather Mills as a mouthpiece to promote their noted attention seeking organisation needs serious help.

PETA are misguided and seem to have lost their core values by turning to extremism and social terrorism. They prey on the minds of the young and uninformed. They are no better than a cult.

  15. "PETA; yeah, he's a nice guy!"

  16. PETA Is a bunch of hypocritical raving lunatics, who support fire bombing, & murder.

they euthanize most of the animals they "rescue"  they wear leather belts, and the leader is a type 1 diabetic, that means insulin dependent, yet she is against animal testing, and insulin... she says its ok for her to use it because she is helping save the animals...

    WHAT A BUNCH FOR F***HEADS!!

  17. They're quite handy in my opinion. I've hit them up for leaflets and posters and they always have what I need. As far as their personal philosophy, well I'm sure not even all the PETA members can agree with everything- or even the people that work there together.

  18. I think they are psychotic.  I do not agree with an organization that encourages people to attempt to collapse Maritime tourism because of seal hunting, or that tells people to commit murder or arson.

I am a vegetarian, and I am sick of the bad rap that veggies get because of organizations like PETA.  PETA makes us look like a bunch of nuts, and they don't address or present the real issues.  Scare tactics never got any message across ever.

That being said, try reading Jeffrey Moussaieff Masson's book, The pig who sang to the moon.  His book was reviewed and endorsed by PETA, but he is way more sane, and addresses issues in barnyard critters that I think are way more significant and truthful.

  19. they're a bunch of loons! if people want to go vegan, avoid leather, any of that stuff, more power to them, have at it.  but peta is not content to educate or inform; they support terrorist groups who use violence for their 'cause'...peta has a 'comic' book they were pushing on little kids with gruesome bloody illustrations that tells kids that 'your mommy is a murderer'...i encountered them one afternoon harassing a group of elementary school kids who were eating at mcdonald's while out on a field trip.  those freaks were yelling at the kids, scaring them; there were several kids in tears...it took a couple teachers, the bus driver, the store manager, and the threat of arrests to run those butt holes off. the first one of those losers who harasses MY kid is going to find out what a leather sole of a size 10 1/2 boot feels like in their butt crack

  20. they aren't shoving random facts in your face. they are telling you the horrible truth about what goes on behind closed doors. i'm not a vegitarian but i think peta is awesome if it helps people become veggies.

i've tried going veg but i love fish & chicken too much. i don't eat beef or pork what so ever, and i never ever drink milk or eat eggs, thanks to peta.

  21. I think that they can be overbearing. I think they often take things to far (like saying something about the fact that we shouldn't have pets because its just another way for humans to control animals).

However, I think that thier stance on animal abuse is good, and they are helping to change the way animals are treated which is definetly good.

Thier slightly NUTS, but they are improving animal conditions.

  22. The message is good, but the means of delivering it is horribly misguided.

  23. I am now officialy confused on whether or not PETA is a good organization. I read somewhere that they kill half the animals they rescue. I am still unsure if this is true or not. But if it was, I would most likely not like PETA.

  24. PETA is the same as any other extremist organization. they are so consumed/brainwashed by what they genuinely believe is right that they lose sight of the real issue. instead of throwing paint on celebrities for wearing fur, they should be volunteering at local animal shelters and trying to find homes for the animals there, for example. people that are extremely passionate about anything walk a fine line between opening others' eyes and proselytizing and alienating people that they should be trying to educate.

  25. While PETA has had some victories for animals, I still think they could do a lot better.  They use questionable celebrity spokespeople (Pam Anderson) who aren't even vegetarian.  They are militant about somethings but too lax in others.  I think they make people think that vegans are radical freaks.

  26. PETA is nothing more than an over-zealous special interest group with a political agenda. They will use any means possible to brainwash people into their extremist philosophies. By this, they have caused more animosity than any good they have ever done.

  27. Man truth be told I think they sorta go over the edge ..... as someone who wants to grow up to be a journalist / enviornmentalist / animal activist I think that its alittle hypocrisy to say dont harm animals but like its ok to beat someone up or through a pie in the face of people because they were fur so not cool and there are better ways to get your point across they act more like militants to me and for shock value

  28. They absolutely don't try to shove "random" beliefs on people.  They do try to shove the truth.  I agree that PETA can be a little bit aggressive sometimes, but you HAVE to be that way if you truly believe in something. Think about it: if no one had ever stood up for womens rights, or civil rights where would be be today?

  29. I believe in the ethical treatment of animals.  I am a complete animal lover myself.  That being said, I do not by any way condone any group that uses terrorististic tactics to get its point across.  There has got to be a better way of making your point known.

  30. Animal control is a far better solution. They enforce laws, not lobby the government for rediculous nonsense like banning mink farms.

  31. I think PEta  is a good organization but  I think they go a little whacko sometimes like the milk thing  they did once( not everyone is  or can be expected to be avegetarian and i think this should be respected, however so should carnvores be very respectful of vegetarians). I think it is good to show to people who are not aware of how animals are treated on certain farms or in factorys and labs and the unethical treatment of animals should be put to a complete stop( liek the horrid seal hunts in canada etc )
