  1. As far as I'm concerned they are all Russian. All these small regions are just provinces of the same land and people. to me it is like the difference between Cantonese and Mandarin: they are both Chinese.

I think everything that has been done since the collapse of the Soviet Union over there has been out of a lust for personal power and gain. It is a no win situation and lives will continue to be lost as long as there are power hungry people in charge and that won't change.

In my opinion Georgia should integrate back with the Russian republic and consolidate power for the good of both.

  2. While people theorize about Georgia, South Ossetia, Russia, and America others are dying in Georgia and South Ossetia.

  3. It's pretty simple.  South Ossetian rebels attacked Georgia.  Georgia responded by bombing South Ossetia.

Meanwhile, Russia has had its eye on Georgia for quite some time.  It wants Georgia's warm water port, it's oil pipeline, and perhaps most of all it wants to prevent Georgia from joining NATO.

So, Russia claims that Georgia's attack on the rebels inadvertently killed a few Russian soldiers (like Bush's claim of WMDs in Iraq), so Russia decides to invade Georgia.

  4. Russia is going through their Cuban missile crisis.

What would the US do if Russia came over and armed the Cubans and wanted to install missile defense in Mexico.

    We are a militarist state.

  5. The intent and purpose of the freedom loving Putin was to destroy the the energy export infrastructure of Georgia.  First, to disrupt the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan pipeline that connects Azerbaijan through Georgia into Turkey bypassing Russia.  So Russia had to shut down the pipeline and destroy a major oil hub in Georgia to promote the Russian oil industry.  Makes perfect sense if you disregard international law.  Plus the respect of human life.  Most especially of the 1,500 people killed by the Russian and its Chechen mercenaries.

  6. Why don't you watch this interview with a very intelligent man: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_9hbLooJY...

...instead of watching propaganda disgraceful to the principles of the United States

  7. South Ossetia and Abkhazia are both breakaway republics that seceded from Georgia in 1992.  There was an outbreak of skirmishes and Georgia decided that they would take back these 'rogue provinces', and shelled the capital city of South Ossetia, Tskhinvali, until it was a pile of rubble.  Russia, who helped mediate the peace between them, lost some soldiers, as well as Russian citizens. (90% of South Ossetia is russian) Now the Russians see this as a perfect opportunity to take Georgia. I think the Russians are experiencing a nationalistic surge, and they want to take back their former power.  I think that the Georgian government thought this an excellent way to get the people to focus on an enemy and unite.  South Ossetia wants its independence, although that is really unlikely, as we have gone for more than a decade without recognizing it as a country.
