got it already!! and love it!! MagicJack..I got it since last May'08 its not really a landline the MJ is kinda rides piggyback on Ymax

It sounds like you are talking about Magic Jack. I love the idea and wish I wasn't required by my local carrier to have an active phone line in order to get DSL. I know people who have magic jack and love it.

if you are talking about the magicjack, I love it. I would not make it my ONLY means of communications, but to have a foreign exchange number is a great asset to me.

I'd say it's too good to be true, and that it may be a base price, but you may be slapped with tons of long distance charges and what not.

it is impossible to get a landline for $20/yr, CLECs dont even get it that cheap...

you must be talking about some VoIP service, perhaps the magic jack, I have one, and love it....

it is a USB  device, it connects to your PC, and a regular phone, your PC must be on, and you must have high speed internet...

Too good to be true, unless you personally buy the wire, the property rights and string telephone connections between yourself and those you call regularly.
