What is your thought?

I am in month 7 of TTC#1. AF arrived yesterday ~ 2 days early - 1st month that i've actually cried!! :( ~

Just wondering, should i go to the Dr's for a fertility check up?

Now, I know that for a healthy couple, stats say 'up to 12 months' however, i don't want to have to wait 12 months and then get checked to find out something might be wrong and THEN have to WAIT longer again, for treatment or whatever.

Or I may just have a slight hormone in-balance or something that can be fixed quick!

I just thought i'd ask the question, as i don't want to just be wasting money if its not advised to check so early on in TTC

  1. I think this also depends on yur age if you are under 30 within a heathy weight range and have regular periods and have no other medical conditions then you will most likely get pregnant and should wait till 12 mths mark and then see your Doc if your not pregnant. If your overweight or over 30 or have any other medical issues then speak to your Doc now.

  2. Hi,

It wouldn't be a bad idea to get checked up, especially since this is your 7th month TTC.  Ideally, you should get checked up when you first start trying just to make sure you are healthy, and everything is ok.

I just went to the doc last monday because i have been TTC since March with no luck.  I told her my periods are irregular, and I don't want to wait 12 months for help.  She put me on Provera and Clomid that day.

It is also a good idea to have your thyroid checked.  They usually automatically test for that when they take your blood.  Sometimes if you have a thyroid problem it can throw  your hormones off a lot!

    Good luck!!

  3. I don't know where you are or if you would have to pay for medical treatment or not.  I have polycystic ovaries and my GP says that when I start TTC they will intervene to help me after 6 months TTC because the polycystic ovaries will make it harder for me.

Do you know if you have anything like that going on?  Look up PCOS on internet and see if it sounds like you....

Also consider your age.  If you are younger than 30 you really do have time on your side.  If you are the other side of 30 and you DID have a problem then it will be harder so I would consider getting help.

Either way it is a personal decision and I don't know how much help will cost you or how well you can afford it (I live in the UK so my treatment would be free).
