Here is your chance to have a rant. What do you think of the proposal is almost double the road tax on some family saloon cars and 4x4's.

  1. my tax is lonly £40 a year and wont go up so am not fussed,.

  2. cant see why tax should increase as we already pay tax beyond belief on petrol as well as every thing else

  3. Its typical of this money grabbing government. I have a large young family and need a large car. We use our car for everything from work to going on holiday. A small car is just NOT an option. What happened to my 'human rights' to cart my family around safely and in a small amount of comfort??? If I were a convict this would go to court !!! I cant afford a new car, I DONT swallow this green nonsense, so its just give up work, going shopping and going to Cornwall once a year or get mugged again by this thieving government.

At least when they lose the next election they will be out for a long long time.

  4. pay up and shut up...  no one cares..   we just need to pay it ...   its only another  weeks wages anyway... we can do more hours or do without something...  we already have to much...   its for the future.. its for the eviroment..  green grass and flowers...   butterflys...   cow dung??  sewage??   pay up   ...  only answer  pay  up

  5. It sucks!!!!!!!!!!!

  6. Just another one of the many ways the government rape the driver............if everyone had a 1 litre car qualifying for cheap tax they would only find another way to extract money from drivers....................probably triple the amount of speed cameras.............this government takes the pi**

  7. I dont think I have enough space to fit all my swearing in here, im not bothered by this as I have already been taxed off the road, im more worried and irritated by taxes on everything else increasing aswell.

  8. I'm all for it. I think it's stupid people are using these huge 4x4s to pop down the road to get a bottle of milk (example). It's stupid, they don't need these huge cars unless they are farmers or need to toe a big trailer. I'm sure most will argue this but it's true. If people would walk more it would make things a lot easier, i walk to my college and work everyday, take a good hour if not more. People are too lazy nowadays, this is a great way to get people on their feet. So much will come of this, as soon as people start walking the difference will be huge. It annoys me to see people in big cars, specially fat people.

  9. It's not about "green" tax.

A 4x4 could only be used at weekend and doing a annual mileage of 4000 and say my car which is a 1.4 and tax is £140 is driven everyday and doing say 120000 a year.

  10. All about taking the average person to the cleaners---Yet again.

The gas guzzlers will be predominantly company cars and therefore it will have little impact in the buying pattern. It is the people who have to buy old fleet cars that need something mid range as they are bringing up a family who will be hit hardest.

Look at the facts, pay £250 a year more tax or pay £20,000 for a new car, it does not take much to figure out what we will have to do.

Or have I missed the news? perhaps the government has introduced a £25,000 a year allowance for everyone who has to travel a distance to work as there are no jobs locally.. not too different to an MP who has to have a second home due to their job.

Strange, unless I am mistaken the tax starts just after full term for the government so it does not have an influence on the election.

    Boy I enjoyed that rant

  11. Don't know why 4 X 4s are always brought into the argument, or mothers dropping children off. It's nothing to do with preserving the planet - simply hitting the motorist, an easy target again. The government want motoring to once again be the pleasure of the rich only. Remember the drivers of cars which are heavy on fuel are already paying a high tax twice, and are therefore subsidising the drivers of smaller cars. So you drivers of small cars should appreciate this and be suitably grateful. By upping the tax this government has finally committed political suicide. It has no chance of winning the next election.

  12. Totally outrageous.  This is not about "green" taxation or improving the environment, it's only about raising revenue.

  13. GOOD! I hate 4x4's and big cars, they take up too much space in car parks. They are usually driven (if you can call it that ) by women. They take up the road at school times. They polute. Ban big cars. I use a bike to go to and from work which is about 3 miles each way. Others arrive in their big saloons travel less than me and have one person per car. Tax them off the road.

  14. Now that the Brown stuff has hit the fan the government needs all the money it can get. Motorists are an easy target.

  15. if they want to line thier pockets why not tax bycycles and also a required insurance that way they will be able to lose all the votes from the public and still leave the roads in a state as they are now

  16. Increase in road tax = fewer vehicles on the road = safer journey for pedestrians
