What is your view of birthdays ? Honestly ?

Tomorrow 8-23 is mine.

I am so blessed to have reached this age & still have my wonderful hubby of 55 yrs..

How young do you think I will be?

I wonder if I'll get that many stars since this is such an inspiring question. LOL.

I could care less about big birthday celebrations but I'm grateful every year that I'm having one rather than a memorial celebration of my life.

It's just a number. I'm 54 but I feel like I'm in my early 30s mentally at least. I like birthday celebrations, maybe I just like celebrations, period. Have a wonderful birthday JILL FOR MCCAIN!!!!

Honestly..I believe that Birthdays are like a Personal New Year that should be celebrated as such.

For instance:

When you turn 5 you get to start to Kindergarten

When you turn 13 you get to be a Teen Ager

When you turn 16 you get to have a Drivers License

When you turn 21 you get to be All Grown Up!

There are many reasons to celebrate life. These are just a few Highlights.

Although if your like me you will have stared going backwards years ago, instead of adding a year, I deduct a year, I'll be 21 again this time.

I'm still wondering what I am going to be when I grow up! I always said that I grew up with the kids... my wife sez the kids grew up. My 60th birthday was Wednesday Aug 13th. I was born on a Friday the 13th. My wife was also born on a Friday the 13th. We were married on a Friday the 13th. My children bought me a hot air baloon ride for my birthday last week, and my wife and I had a wonderful ride over the town I was born in.

Have a wonderful day, Jill. It is your day. That is my take on birthdays, being my day.  I refuse to cook, clean or anything else!!!  Its the one day of the year, other than Mothers day that I have a legit excuse.

As far as the hoopla, cake , cards , presents, I can take them or leave them and would rather leave them.  All I want is acknowledgment from my family, "happy birthday and many more", that's all I need, to know that my loved ones are thinking of me, means more than any monetary gift.

My honest view of birthdays?  It's all about the cake.  Married 55 years, I'd say you're 70-75 and I'm sure you look as youthful and lovely as your avatar.  Have a happy one!

Happy Birthday (tomorrow)! I hope you have a wonderful birthday! I love birthdays, especially mine. The presents are nice, but its mostly about getting friends and family together to celebrate that I enjoy the most. I was born on halloween so it is tradition that I have a costume party every year.

I consider birthdays to be a lot of fun.  I celebrate each year I have enjoyed on this earth.  The number of candles makes a big bonfire now.  I don't look back and wish to be younger.  This age is fine with me.  I guess you are talking about my own birthdays?  I also enjoy the birthdays of my family members and try to send cards or email greetings to friends on their birthdays.

My parents are 77 and have also been married 55 years. I'd have to guess you are at least 73 to have been married that many years. Birthdays aren't as much fun for me after I turned 30 and that was a long time ago for me as I am 48 now. My parents and I are also for McCain.

I kind of like birthdays not that I've grown assertive enough to ask for what I want.  

If you're married 55 years, I'm guessing you'll be 75.

My own birthday will be only 6 days after yours, on August 29.  My wife is going to make me lasagna exactly how I want it for my birthday dinner, and my 10 year old daughter is going to make me key lime pie in lieu of cake.  I also know my main present, and it's something I've been wanting for a long time so I'm excited.

My view on birthdays is that I think Mothers should actually celebrate your day since they are the one who went thru all the pain but since it is sort of a covenant thing than I will go ahead and accept my presents on her behalf  ;~)
