  1. A lots of people really do that. They built a stong wall around them and that way they isolate the selfs from the outer world. It's more than clear that all of that is made becase of fear. Some people are extremly vulnerable, or maybe just afraid of being hurt, so it provokes them to act that way, to protect them selfs from eventual suffering. But how do they do it?

I think there are different types of isolation...The people that are afraid that will be hurt, are not that much isolated as the others. They are more concious about the situation in the reallity...their barriers are often hidden, so the outer people may see them just like not very talkative or not very polite or relaxed people. They are considered for shy persons.

But the ones that are really vulnerable and especially if they've been hurt ones in their liftime, they live in complitely another world. I can say that they function like doubled persons. In the hours when thay are in their inner world, somewhere in their minds and deep feelings, alone of course, thay feel stronger and more powerfull, but they feel lonely. The are conciuos that in their own world no one elese can enter. That makes them feel uncomfortable, unhappy and sometimes sucidal. So, they have to leave their inner world sometimes and go out it the real outer world. There they are extremly shy, afraid and speachless. So they are not alone there, but not happy too. The moments like this, make them to go back in the inner world...looking for happines,

It's extremly important for these people, whose psychical problem is obvious, to have by their sides some reliant people whose trust and attentions, time by time, will become stronger than the pain and the fear, and of course the need for isolation

  2. There is some truth to this.  We all have an inner core which we need to keep private from others.

  3. Physical barriers, such as concrete houses, allow you to safely hide in, and they allow you to hide and protect your possessions. Hiding is a protection mechanism.

Carry this line of thinking into the non-physical world now. People erect mental barriers as a way of keeping their true selves hidden, and thus protected. They don't have to share their views or ideas, and risk ridicule or criticism in the process.
