Question:

What is your view on abortion?

I'm doing a social studies debate on the topic of abortion and I would like to hear opinions on both sides of the argument (no judgements or harsh words, please). What do you think about it and why?

I am not simply looking for statements like "It's killing babies! " or "It's the woman's choice!"

  1. i am pro choice for abortion im not to fond of late abortions, i believe an early stage abortion is ok if theres nothing there but a clump of cells  therefore its not murder or killing or the "christain" whatever

  2. I'm assuming that you are the same one who asked this earlier today.  I'll just respond in the same way...

I'm pro-life. My morals and values are intact.

There is never a reason to punish a little life for being conceived, regardless of how or when. s*x is something shared by two fully mature and responsible adults who will happily accept a pregnancy should it happen. Don't punish the baby for being created.

It's not up to us to decide on a baby's fate, ever, even in the case of rape. The baby shouldn't be punished, the rapist should.

Making them illegal might possibly make them unsafe, and there is risk for the woman having one. Not to be cruel, but, oh well. The life of a baby is just as important as the pregnant woman's life. Don't get pregnant, get sterilized, so the life of an unborn child isn't snuffed out.

This is a hugely sensitive issue for me, yes. The termination of a baby's life is something that is immoral. "It's my body, my choice" is such a twisted idea.

Naturally, nobody will ever agree to disagree on this stance. Sadly, people will continue having abortions. But as I stated before, my morals and values are intact, and I'm not guilty of such a mortal sin.

  3. I believe that it is a personal decision for each of us.  Prior to Roe vs Wade, women and girls were still having abortions, they were being performed in back alleys and such by people who really didn't know what they were doing.  I don't have the statistics but I do know that it caused alot of young women to bleed to death.

I personally feel that it is a medical procedure that should be performed by a medical professional.  I am not going to judge anyone for making hard decisions that may not fit with my own.

  4. im pro bc if you cant take care of the baby or u are in a situation where the baby would have a miserable life (like if u were married to somone abusive) then u should not put the baby threw that- personally i wouldnt i dont think but in certain sitruationd it may be better

  5. This has always been a delicate subject among society, but I believe its a personal moral choice of the mother and family.

I am basically pro-choice, moslty when the danger of the mother is in jeopardy.

  6. i don't believe in abortions unless there is a major medical risk to mother, or in circumstances such as rape.

if you are old enough to have s*x and have unprotected s*x, you take a risk of becoming pregnant, you should stand up to your responsibility's and look after the baby, if you cant adoption is the best option.

  7. I think it should be legal for women who are under 4 months pregnant, and after that only if a women's health is in danger.   i don't think abortion qualifies as "murder" as most pro-lifers like to claim. I think it's a really hard decision for women to make -- not something people take lightly.

I ALSO think there are much bigger and much more important issues facing this country than abortion -- war, gun control, health care -- these are issues that, if properly addressed and solved would save so many more lives than  stricter abortion laws would.

People are just hooked on the abortion issue and, frankly, it affects such a small percentage of people.  Crime, health care, war  -- these are things actually impact people's lives in great numbers.

  8. I am against people who consider themselves "pro-life" yet they would never choose to or even consider to adopt a minority child into their family-- or they refuse to support or complain about their tax dollars going to social services like medicaid or WIC.

  9. I don't think they are "right" but I don't think they should be illegal. I also don't think you should be able to have one up to 20 weeks (that's 5 months for crying out loud) unless you or the baby are at a life threatening risk.

I know someone who has had 4, and there is something really wrong with that. I also think in this day and age, with all the different types of birth control there are really no "mistakes" just very bad judgement and people should be accountable for that.

  10. I think every woman should have the right to choose. It's not fair to make abortions illegal. It's their baby, not the government's. Why should they get to choose what's going to happen to it?

    Here's some other main reasons:

    - Every child should be a wanted child.

    - Abortion must be kept legal, especially for all the rape and incest pregnancies

    - If abortion is outlawed women will be forced to go to back-alley abortion clinics.

    - Aborting unwanted children reduces the number of abused children.

    - The fetus is not a human, just a mass of tissue.

  11. Abortion is something that needs to be chosen by the woman BUT I think that if a man wants his gf/wife/sexual partner to have the abortion and she does not want to then at that moment he sould sign over his parental rights and have no way of trying to get back into the picture.

This is something I have debated in the past with people and they never think I'm right but I think that is the best option for all involved!

  12. I am pregnant right now.  I can feel my twins moving inside me.  I have seen them on the ultrasounds.  I can count their little fingers and toes in some pictures.  I have prayed for these babies.  They are a blessing.  I believe that before I was born, that God knew my name and I was planned.  I believe that God knows their names as well and has known about them for a long time.  I believe that the day of conception that they were little human beings.  So I believe that a woman who is pregnant, no matter how far along, is pregnant with a baby, a human.  I believe killing a human is wrong.  So I am pro-life all the way.

I read once about a woman who was brutally raped by a group of men.  She decided to have the baby and give her up for adoption.  But when the baby was born she saw how beautiful she was.  She said she kept her daughter because she was reminded that even in the worst of circumstances that God sends us blessings.  She said she was afraid that when she looked at her little girl she would remember the horror every day.  But that was not the case at all.  She saw the love, and the goodness that came out of a very bad time.

As far as the arguement, 'the dr says it would be dangerous for the mother to have the baby'  well, my mom was that woman when she was pregnant with me.  I was her 6th baby.  The dr told her that her body could not handle it, that she could die.  She was fine, and so was I.

  13. I consider myself to be Pro-Life but I don't push my views on anybody. I myself would never (even if it meant my life or child's life was at risk or if it were a rape/incest conceived child) consider or go through with an abortion but if another women thinks that's the best choice for her I won't hate her for it.

I myself can't justify killing another human being. Every person has a purpose and everything (good or bad) happens for a reason. There are other options such as adoption and safe-s*x.

I do think abortions should be legalized but their should be restrictions (not more than once, if the pregnancy will put the mother or child's health at a risk for death, rape/incest,  and not done past the 1st trimester...to name a few).

  14. I think that it is no better that murder. You wouldn't kill a disabled person like the n**i's did. The disabled also put a strain on people and we are pretty unanimous about not killing them.

  15. I think it is a good idea if you can't afford to have a baby. I think there would be a lot more unwanted, abandoned babies out there if there were no abortion. (Also abuse to these unwanted children) Not to mention more people living on welfare. Plus, it is good for researching stem cells and cures for cancer. Good luck with your debate.

  16. I don't agree with abortion.  I truly believe it is killing a baby.  It is my  belief that life begins at conception.  I think abortion is too accepted in our society and too many girls use it as a generic form of birth control.

  17. I think it's entirely up to the parties involved whether or not a woman should have an abortion.  I don't necessarily agree with the moral values of abortion and how some people use it as a form of birth control, but there are positives to abortion.  The general population is cut down, stem cell research can be investigated further, and it can save lives on many levels.  Take for example a single mother with a number of children already gets pregnant and has health issues right out of the gate.  I feel having an abortion gives those children already alive a mother, something they obviously need.  :)

    Good luck with your research.
