Okay everyone.....I'm diligently working on this rehearsal dinner choice and it's DRIVING ME CRAZY! So many selections and so many VARIOUS prices for deposits and minimums on food! Here are some choices......please cast your vote if you have either eaten there VERY recently or have attended a wedding rehearsal dinner there. Top choices are:

1. K.C. Masterpiece - Overland Park, KS (new managers)

2. 75th Street Brewery - The Nest or Family Banquet Room

3. Smokehouse BBQ - either Overland Park or Kansas City

5. The Cheesecake Factory - Overland Park

6. Zio's (which I believe is in Olathe, KS)

Please only honest answers and as much info as possible because I am in Arkansas trying to prepare this for my son who lives in Gardner!

P.S. Thanks ......Princess.......for your constant help and suggestions. Nice to know that you are looking out for me along this journey! pec

  1. I hadn't thought of Zio's!  I have been there!  And it's right off the freeway, too! (At 119th & I-35) It might be a great place, even if it isn't BBQ.  But when I was there I did not see the banquet room, so I still can't say what that looked like, darn it!  here's some reviews - http://kansascity.citysearch.com/review/...

I have been to the Cheesecake Factory as well - that place is always a MADHOUSE!  I think you will have to wait to get in, wait for service, and have a hard time with parking... it is just crazy there - and that's just the way it is - it is just so popular.  And it is expensive.  I had lunch at the one on the Plaza yesterday & we had an appetizer & a salad & 2 cokes & it was still almost 30 bucks!

How much time do you have before you have to decide, BTW?  I wasn't sure when the wedding was?  I almost wish I could go and look for you :)  Another question - How far from Overland Park/Olathe do you want to travel?

I guess my votes would be (knowing your situation, etc.) and based on the food and the places themselves, etc.

    1. 75th Street Brewery

    2. K.C. Masterpiece

    3. Smokehouse

    4. Zio's

    5. Cheesecake Factory

(not familiar with the new place you mentioned - but I can check - there's a bunch of places in this town)

I'll keep thinking for you - I will be out some this weekend too - (I almost went to see "Dark Knight" where Zio's is yesterday because it has IMAX - it's in a huge intersection off the freeway - lots of parking - but it does get crowded on the weekends... It can be the main drag of Olathe - and the busiest intersection in the city, I think...)

Also did you check on Cinzetti's Italian on Metcalf?  I was there on Mother's Day - I hear they do have a nice banquet room & the food is pretty good - though again, the parking is not good & the place can be pretty crowded - it was crazy then.

I'll ask my Mom too - she and her Red Hat Ladies go a lot of places..  I know the Webster House is one of their favorites - http://www.websterhousekc.com/

I keep thinking - affordable - nice & quiet...  hmmm..

  2. live in Olathe - 6,1,3,5,2 (you don't have a 4)

  3. I was gonna say Fiorella's Jack Stack Barbeque (you can check out there website at: http://www.jackstackbbq.com/article.asp?... ) and there are reviews of them on TripAdvisor, my Bible here (http://www.tripadvisor.com/Restaurant_Re... ), where it is rated as the #1 restaurant in Overland Park. I've heard their Crown Prime Beef Ribs are nothing short of spectacular and their Rack of Lamb is from New Zealand and I've heard the same about it. Not to confuse you and add to your dilemma by giving you another place to consider, but Fiorella's is on my "To-Eat" list for the next time I'm in Overland Park! Their wine list is *amazing*. Can we say Opus One and full 7 oz. glasses? :) Ahhh.

Out of the choices you've given though, these are my thoughts:

    1. Good barbecue, but go to Fiorella's instead.

    2. Great place from what I've heard, but too expensive for what you get. So consider that if you are paying that bill for everyone. But if not, it would be a really great place.

    3. Again, just go to K.C. Masterpiece or definitely Fiorella's over Smokehouse.

    4. ALWAYS love the Cheesecake Factory, even if it is a chain. They can always accomodate everybody's taste & wants. They have all types of cuisine, so there's something for picky eaters. Wonderful bar & of course the best dessert. Only problem is no local feel. (I'm big on that, not sure if y'all are as well.)

    5. Good Italian from what I've heard and reasonable too. Good place to consider.

Hope this helped some. From the few places on this list I haven't been (75th & Zio's), I have added them to my "To Eat" list. I hope that this helps some!
