    The names themselves tell you what they are:

    carboxylic acid is RCOOH (RC(=O)OH)

    ester is RCOOR

    beta is the second carbon from the carbonyl.

    Keto means a ketone .. carbon-oxygen double bond.

    So beta keto acid: RC(=O)CH2COOH

    The ester is an ester of this acid.
