I'm thinking about Anesthesiology as a career. I would just like to be more educated on it first before I start asking people about it. If anyone knows the education, work conditions, earnings, advantages, disadvantages...whatever you can think of...please let me know!!!!!!!thanks alot!

  1. Before you choose a specialty, you need to decide if you want to become a physician.  All anesthesiologists have to complete medical school before they get any training in anesthesia.

The time to consider anesthesiology as a profession is when you are in your third or fourth year of medical school.  Before that, it's pointless.

So, look into the path that is involved in getting a medical degree.  It's a long and difficult road, but worth it if that's what you're meant to do.

  2. It is a looooot of responsibility.  You have the patient's life in your hands as much as the surgeon does.

If you decide to go into this field you could consider studying alternative options just to round out your scope of knowledge.  So learning about acupuncture, hypnosis, etc. could be useful.
