  1. Corsica

  2. Corsica, Guadeloupe, Martinique.

  3. Corsica (La Corse) in the mediterranean and Reunion in the Indian Ocean. Both islands are official parts of France

  4. There are a lot. There are dozens inhabited islands just off the Atlantic and Mediterranean French coasts. But the only one that is a French region in itself AND not considered an overseas island is Corsica (in French: la Corse) in the Mediterranean.

Overseas there are also French "départements":

    - Guadeloupe (in the Caribbean)

    - Martinique  (in the Caribbean)

    - Réunion (in the Indian Ocean)

    - Guyane (NOT AN ISLAND, in South America)

Note that the above can be both départements and "régions" whereas in mainland France "régions" are divided into "départements". Overseas départements have exactly the same status as continental ones (Just as Hawaii would for the US).

There are also French overseas collectivities (formerly known as overseas territories until 2003), which have a different administrative status (as Puerto Rico would for the US). For instance St-Pierre et Miquelon (North West Atlantic Ocean) is one of them but there are more: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Collectivit...

But I think you must be thinking of Corsica which is the only one not considered overseas since it's just off the coast of the French Riviera. It is one of France's 22 continental regions and it is composed of 2 départements: Haute-Corse (Higher Corsica) and Corse du sud (southern Corsica).

  5. Islands that are part of the EU :

    Guadeloupe

    Martinique

    Réunion

Areas that vote in French elections, but are not part of the EU :

    New Caledonia

    French Polynesia

    Mayotte

    Saint-Barthélemy

    Saint-Martin

    Saint-Pierre and Miquelon

    Wallis and Futuna

Other islands, part of France, but uninhabited :

    Kerguelen Islands

    Crozet Islands

Amsterdam Island and Saint Paul Island

    Adelie Land

Scattered Islands (îles Éparses), Bassas da India, Europa, Juan deNova, Glorioso, and Tromelin.

    Clipperton Island

    Peter

  6. corsica. i'm doing a project on it now! but also, france owns the caribbean islands and stuff, but corsica's the only major island in metropolitan france (there are others, but they're like 1 mile)

  7. Lots of islands are officially part of France but Corsica is the main one

  8. All of you gave good answers, but there are also a lot of small islands on the french coast as Oleron, Ré, Ouessant, Belle Ile, and much more

  9. Nouvelle-Calédonie is not french ?

Wallis & Futuna are they uzbeki ?

Saint-Martin island  shared with Netherlands ?

  10. Not to forget French Polynesia like Tahiti,Bora-Bora, Moorea etc.

  11. Reunion island off east coast of Africa, I think.
