  1. I'm from the government and I'm here to help! I know you think you heard what it is that I said But what you don't know is that what I said is not at all in most cases what you thought it was that you heard! Understand?........Good!

  2. Well, one thing they don't openly say is that "security contractors" is another word for mercenaries. Hired guns, except under a corporate umbrella.

  3. Well I guess we'll never know because unless one of us is over there there they is no way to know.  I highly doubt that someone on here knows anymore than the rest of us.

  4.   Probably because the Olympics are on =)!

They are telling us about it, just need to find the right channel on TV.

  5. The government never keeps anything from us. They are forthcoming and honest. You must be some kind of muslim terrorist.

  6. There are things no one knows, so our government can't tell us those things, related to non-fatal casualties among the insurgents and non-fatal casualties among the civilians, and those civilian-run rebuilding projects that are underway but can't be completed for one reason or another, and those rebuilding projects that can't be begun for lack of materials or skills among the civilians.

Then there are things the government DOES know that are probably in files they don't intend to release, like:

    Number of US soldiers wounded, but returned to duty anyway;

Number of US soldiers attempting suicide this month,

Number of suicidal returned soldiers now receiving appropriate psychological treatment,

Number of US soldiers now hooked on drugs issued for wakefulness in heavy combat situations,

Number of US soldiers now hooked on drugs for relief of wound-related pain,

Number of US soldiers released from VA and govt hospitals after wound care with NO followup care,

Number of US soldiers released from post-war treatment now needing regular psychological treatment, or now unable to work for psychological reasons,

Number of US soldiers who died or were wounded AFTER having served their expected 2 tours of duty, but exposed to danger because those 2 tours of duty were extended by the President's executive orders,

Number of families divorced due to extended military stays,

Number of children who lost one parent due to those divorces,

Number of children now orphaned due to the loss of their only parent in the war,

Number of returning soldiers unable to care for themselves due to massive brain injury,

Number of returning soldiers now unable to walk at all or needing wheelchairs all day every day,

Extra cost of fuel used by military forces and supply groups because they're paying the world price for oil in Iraq instead of the domestic Iraqi price,

Number of Iraqis captured and punished or killed for having impersonated friendly Iraqi forces,

Number of US and friendly weapons lost to or stolen by to the insurgents,

Number of Iraqi civilians, counting children, who are now disabled by being present during firefights,

Number of Iraqi civilians who had incomes before the war, but have none now, because their place of business is destroyed,

Number of Iraqi refugees, admitted to the US, who do and who don't intend to return to Iraq, and when they intend to do so,

US govt estimates of the numbers of Kurds who do and who don't participate in militant and non-militant efforts to establish a Kurdish state inside Turkey,

    etc. etc.

Some of these things will get out or will become deductions by serious researchers when the war is over, but who knows when that will be?
