  1. There hardly shouldn't be any Issues with RE as the students are learning about other religion and cultures, that is the overall idea of RE!

But what you should be careful of is how you talk about different religions etc. as some might take it offencive.

  2. In this age of diversity it is a good and interesting subject to teach. try and show the different types of religion ie christian, Muslim Jewish etc and how they differ in their beliefs but try and not go into too much detail as you may come unstuck as there are probably children in the class who will know more than you.

just try and keep it general and not too contentious.

  3. Know your pupils backgrounds and try to avoid confrontational issues

  4. As a teacher myself, I would say the following need to be considered:

=sensitivity e.g. different beliefs,  values, morals

=giving the pupils a chance to share opinons

=giving pupils the chance to listen carefully

=different teaching styles e.g. talking, acting, media etc

=reinforce the fact that you are not trying to convert pupils, just that you are encouraging them to explore different beliefs and share their understanding.

You could include PSHE in your assignment as this links in very closely with RE.  Good luck!

  5. Personally I believe that it should be stressed that no religion should be seen as superior and that respect should be given to all people regardless of their beliefs.
