What it be better to pursue a career in Communications or Retail Merchandising?

I'm interested in both. I think I would like R.M. better but I feel like Coms has better job opportunities. I'm basically trying to decide what to major in. Please advise me and comment back :)

You could do some internet research on payscale.com or another site to see what the projected outlooks are for each of these fields. I would guess that communications would pay more and have a better outlook, but that is not certain without knowing exactly what you are interested in as a job title.

i would major in comm and minor in marketing-this will prepare you well for a carer in RM, but also for a much broader range of careers as well, in case you can't get into RM right away or change your mind. merchandising is a (big) component of marketing.

also, if not part of the required classes for wither of those, take some merchandising classes as well as something on consumerism, consumer behavior, etc. understanding how consumer purchases are influenced is important in merchandising
