Question:

What jewelry do I wear with a halter wedding dress?

My wedding dress is an ivory halter style dress. I don't want a bulky necklace so I am thinking of wearing a thin gold chain that has a beautiful cross with a diamond in the middle. My fiance gave it to me a few years ago. This will work right? Also, what earrings do I wear with this? I am wearing my hair down, but with my ears exposed (weird description, but the best I can do). Should I wear a bracelet or is that too much if I am wearing a gold tiara also? I like gold the best so I will stick with that color. I am not a jewelry person, so any help will be greatly appreciated!

  1. The cross pendant will be lovely, perhaps some earrings with simple crosses to match -

  2. A lot of tiaras don't look good unless you have the most perfect hairstyle for it - and those are few and far between.  You don't say if you are wearing a veil or not.  I think I'm leaning towards no necklace; if you want the cross with you, add it into your bouquet or pin it inside your bra or whatever.  Bracelet, yes.  Earrings, yes.  Tiara, no unless it is part of the veil.  Veil, yes.

  3. I think that no necklace would be best. If the necklace chain is short and closer to your neck that would be ok. I would just go with the bracelet, tiara and a small earrings. Remember you don't want to over do it.

  4. wear the necklace that your fiance gave you. the cross is beautiful and classic. for earrings, since your hair will be down but ears exposed, you should probably wear diamond studs. i don't think that one bracelet would be to much with the tiara. besides it's your(and your fiance's) wedding day and no one else's

  5. With a halter no necklace looks the best, but because it was given to you by your fiance it would be ok. If you wear the necklace then go for small gold earings. I think that you should wear a bracelet on one arm also in gold.

  6. The cross should be okay, especially because you have a "relationship" with it (because your fiance gave it to you). But, because a halter-top draws a lot of attention to the top portion of the torso, maybe you should not wear the necklace. A bracelet would be fine and maybe some simple earrings. But remember, less is more. This website might help a little bit.

    Best of luck!

  7. I think you can make it look good.  Try it on beforehand to see if the chain is a good length, if not, you can get another chain.  I was agonizing over something similar.  My fiance wants me to wear his mother's peals, which is, of course, an honor. But the problem is, they are really long.  I was trying to find a casual wedding dress or suit that would look good with the pearls and having stress!!  Finally, I decided that I will just pick out the outfit I want (we are having a private elopement ceremony anyway, but I still want to look good) and then just wear the necklace anyway.  In my opinion, if the dress is pretty and the jewelry is pretty and tasteful, then it will look fine.  He will think it is beautiful because it is the necklace he gave you.  Isn't that what is most important anyway?  Oh, I would go with diamond stud earrings or small gold earrings and a thin gold bracelet.
