i work as a vet receptionist. it is 35 miles round trip. the office manager is married to the vet and she is cranky alot, wants things done her way, and can be very rude to employees in front of clients.

i have been offered at job with petsmart as a bather then going to grooming school. this would be 23 miles round trip, i would save miles/gas. can't gurantee wont have cranky workers but....thats what you get. i do have to sign a 2 year contract due to going to grooming school.

which should i choose and why?

  1. Vet receptionist sounds more professional. However, I think the second job will be better because it will be a more relaxed environment and customers will be more thankful. Just my opinion. Oh, and by the way, it looks like you prefer the second option anyway. ;-)

  2. Obviously you are unhappy where you work, and you probably put that aura off while you are there making things just that much worse. If you choose petsmart, you have a potential to make a lot of money, and you will also have experience that will be enough to make you money at any point.

I would not expect to have no drama, you will probably have more. You also get more upset customers, you just have to know how to deal with them. If you are worried about the contract, try petco maybe, theirs is only 1 year long. But either way, in a grooming salon you are typically with a bunch of women all in a little room together for 8 hours a day, there is going to be drama.
