I want a job dealing with exotic animals, i want to deal with anything from lions, tigers, monkies, chimps, apes, sea animals, but i'd prefer not to work in a zoo, i want to travel, preferably. I wouldnt mind a job with horse either. I dont want o be a vet though, id more like to interact with the animals, i dont think i really want to be a zoologist either but am debating it, i wouldnt mind working at a zoo for a while though if neccesary. I like the sound of zoo nurse, that takes care of the baby animals in the zoo, but want to make more money than them. PLEASE HELP!!! TIME IS WINDING DOWN 4 ME 2 choose a career, aim finishing up high school pretty soon.

  1. working with exotic animals is a desirable and exciting job, but most people who do it don't make a lot of money.

don't pressure yourself to know what your career is going to be.  for most jobs with animals, you need to have at least four years of college.  the good thing about that is while you're in your first few years, taking the biology and zoology classes that will be required for any animal-related career, you'll have plenty of time to think about jobs.  college professors are also an incredible resource.

without college, there's still a chance you could get a job as a zookeeper and work your way up the ladder.  however, low-level zookeeping jobs usually involve more shovels than behavioral work.

if you want to travel, research in zoology is a good idea.  you'd get to travel to observe animals in their natural habitat.

but, again, none of these jobs are careers where you end up rich.  you have to work for the love of the job, and be happy you can make a living doing something that inspires you.

in conclusion, go to college, talk to your zoology professors, and don't go into working with animals if you want to get rich,

  2. Sorry but it sounds like you just want a job where you can play with animals and get paid LOTS of money to do it.  Jobs working with animals just do not work out this way.  If you want to work with wild animals..I might suggest becoming a wildlife biologist which can allow for a lot of travel if that is the route you want to do...but you will not be able to do a lot of hands-on work with most of the animals you will study as acclaimating wild animals to humans is a death sentence for them.  You can do more interaction type work at a zoo..but even then depending on the animal it still might not be much.  Sure, a zoo nursery job allows for hands-on work..but everyone wants to work in the zoo nursery!!  Zoos usually place you where you are needed, not necessarily where you want to be.  Also, most animal lovers work with animals because they are passionate about them not because they want to make LOTS of money.
