  1. Good Question. Customer service jobs tend to be female dominated. I work on a supermarket checkout and roughly 90% of staff were female. Unfortunately the few men we had tended to be given the physical tasks.

  2. Secretaries, Hairdressers, Beauty therapists, make up artists, nail techniction, sun bed shop, cleaners, pharmacy, ummm......im bit stuck now!!

  3. All the silly non heavy-labor jobs that industry felt men would be wasting their time doing.

  4. Dominatrixes

  5. It's funny because people claim that women have been 'freed' from the home but what jobs are they doing outside the home? Jobs they'd be doing in the home anyway! Cleaning ladies, caring jobs, waitressing, jobs like receptionists where you have to dress prettily because that's what customers respond to ... a person with not too much authority but well presented and polite. They can't even get to the top of their 'profession'. Cleaning ladies are managed by men, caring jobs are found within establishments run by men and waitresses are working for male proprieters. Even as cooks; women tend to be cooks and men chefs because chefs are managerial positions.

But don;t get me wrong. It's not that I think all women are stereotyped. Men are too. You see a male nanny and peopler think he's g*y. You see a man being a house husband, people will say he's weak and that his wife 'wears the trousers'. Men can't do whatever they want either.

  6. Here are some I can think of:

    Seamstress

    Washerwoman

    Hairdresser

    Cosmetologist

    Beautician

    Typist

    Secretary

    Receptionist

    Librarian

    Telemarketer

    Maid

    Housekeeper

    Governess

    Day care worker

    School nurse

    Wardrobe girl

    Inker (for old animated movies)

    Social worker

    Midwife

    Personal Tutor

    Nun (if you're Catholic)

    Airline Stewardess

    Telephone switchboard operator

    Chambermaid

    Stenographer

  7. EDIT: My comments are based on Australia, things may be different elsewhere. (These are in addition to the other jobs mentioned, so I won't say office worker again, lol.)

In abbatoirs (slaughterhouses), women work in the boning rooms, not men.

Packing of agricultural produce (fruit, veg, eggs, etc) is a female dominated job, with the men mostly doing the picking.

    Factory based sewing machinists

    Hotel (pub) bar staff

    Cleaners

    Commercial laundry workers (washerwomen)

    Ironing/pressing

    Personal care attendant

    Manicurist

Typist (not clerical duties, just typing, VERY boring!!!)

    Telephonist and Telephone Exchange Operator

Cannery work (canning fruit and veg, specifically. I'm not sure why mostly women do this, but men don't work the lines at this job. In other factories, guys are on the line, but not so much in fruit and veg canning)

    Textile factory workers

    Massage (therapeutic)

Anyway, that's a few more. You can decide if they're worth including.

    Cheers ;-)
