  1. you can't work till legally until your 16, try tim horton's when your 15.

  2. That's cool that you want to get a job and start working at a young age.  I started working when I was 13 at a place like Chuck-E-Cheese's being a waitress for parties for little kids.  I made $10 an hour plus tips- it was really good money for a 13 year old (and this was 15 years ago!).  Then I did parties at our bowling alley when I was 14-15.  Again, good money.  Good luck to you!

  3. babysitting

  4. babysitter, or something along the lines of shoveling snow like you said might be your best bets

  5. See if you can get on as an apprentice with a local contractor.  That's how my first husband started at age 11 and by the time he had graduated high school he had learned enough and saved enough money to go into business for himself. He has done really well. Yard maintenance and shoveling snow would also be really good ideas, as well as helping people move and running errands for elderly neighbors.  You'll build a good reputation for yourself, and when the time comes to apply for a formal job, you'll have tons of references.  Good Luck!!!

  6. Yes a supermarket can and many will hire you at 14 but from Labor Day until June 1st the hours you can work are strictly regulated. The employers that are willing and able to deal with those restrictions are food service in particular fast food and grocery stores. There are some retailers that hire 14 and 15-year-old employees but they are very few while school is in session.

It is legal to work at 14 in most jobs that are not considered hazardous but many employers just won't hire someone your age. The only way to know is apply, the worse that can happen is you don't get hired. To get information about work permit, jobs you can do, hours you can work etcetera go to:

You always have the options of casual labor (working for an individual)

You can mow lawns and other yard work (as casual labor only)

You can clean houses (as casual labor only)

You can wash cars (as casual labor only)

You can Tutor (as casual labor only)

You can work as a pet-sitter/dog-walker (as casual labor only)

You can assist the elderly. (As casual labor only)

You can work as a baby-sitter. (As casual labor only and some states do restrict the age for baby-sitting)

Just to name a few ideas............................

  7. This depends on the state that you live in, but the bigger corporations like grocery chains, Walmart, Target, etc. tend to have age requirements that span across the entire country to help structure company-wide policies and hiring guidelines.  You usually have to be 16 to get a job there.

Try visiting your Town Hall or city offices.  They're good about listing jobs that you may be eligible for.  Most counties have Workforce Centers and people willing to help place employees in jobs.

  8. You can check with your local supermarket but most of them require you to be at least 16. Try posting some signs around town for lawn work! Some people will even let you do their lawn work and use their tools and appliances if you don't have any! Also ask your parent's friends if they could use an extra pair of hands or even your friend's parents! And don't forget your other family members with children maybe could use a babysitter! Just get out there and be available for whatever comes along! Also try some independently owned buisnesses they usually don't have the same age 16 rule and could use you maybe stocking merchandise or cleaning! Good luck hope this helps!
