  1. When the clutch pedal is depressed the load on the engine is disengaged and when the clutch is released, the load on the engine is engaged making the vehicle move forward or backward. The engine dies when releasing the clutch pedal without ample acceleration, hence engine idling should be increased slightly to be able to carry the load of the vehicle in moving forward/backward.  Puting the gear in neutral is disengaging the load of the engine from the transmission while idling. This is why you have to be in the first gear in starting to move the vehicle forward then go to the next higher gear as you gain momentum.  starting the vehicle in a gear other than the first would strain the engine, unless you are moving from a hill going down. Good luck.

  2. when you are letting the clutch out, your not giving it enough gas, then it will stall.

  3. When the clutch is in, or the trans. is in Neutral, there is no "load". The movement ends at the transmission input shaft. When the vehicle is in gear, and you abruptly let off the clutch, the strain of attempting to push the vehicle is too much for the engine and it stops it. This is why we learn to use the clutch and gas to allow the engine to slowly get the vehicle moving before we let off the clutch all together.
