What key would I play my flute in? :P

I know..you would think that I know this..but i dont! and someone asked me and i dont want to sound dumb..it's just a standard flute..(concert)..help??

  2. Well it would be concert pitched it would be in the key of eb i think, just look at the last sharp or flat when you play a concert bb scale

  3. Hello there,

    You don't sound dumb :(....  at all.   If no one ever told you... how can you know?  

    A standard flute,  and that is the flute you see everyone playing.. even the advanced flutes the professionals play ... are in the Key of C.

    Every instrument is tuned in its own key.  Oboe is in the Key of C and clarinet is in Bb.  Alto sax is in Eb and French horn is in F.  The piano is also in the Key of C... so you can use piano music and still be fine when playing flute...

    So there you go.  Hope that helps and will make you seem SMART!!  :))
